Slim The Mobster explains his recent Detox comments

The Dre protege opens up about a few topics including how Dre's hiatus was blown out of proportion.

Slim the Mobster has previously spoken on his working relationship with Dr. Dre, offering his opinion on why Detox still hasn’t been released. During an interview with Good*Fella Media, the Dre protégé explained that his comments on taking a break from the industry were blown out of proportion and that he still might have plans to release the LP.

“I ain’t ever said ‘Fuck Detox.’ I don’t know if that’s the case. I think it got kind of taken out of hand, what he was saying. He was saying, he’s about to let us do us because of where his motivation,” he said. “I don’t think he’s saying ‘Scratch Detox, fuck Detox,’ none of those things. I think people took that as what he was saying, but again, he’s not a fucking rapper. And people forget that.

“For him, he’s a producer. [Rapping] is not what he does,” he continued. "Detox was a thought when Eminem came out, 50, Game, all these dudes was involved. All those things played out and they turned out to kind of be iffy, because Game and 50 got into it and little things like that and dudes trying to come out with headphones. All those things. It’s a weird thing. I don’t want to be in competition with my boss. You can’t outshine the nigga that gave you your shine."

  5. He just said whiners like you taking things out of context and blowing them out of proportion is what's wrong. Detox isn't dead and it's far from "official", come on... misery loves company I guess, people who are mad at Dre for not putting out a perfect last album by the time they want want others to be just as frustrated by spreading this nonsense.

Let Dre do what he wants and he probably needs a break feeling successful at something else before he gets the hunger for music again - which he's had for 20+ years by the way. I doubt you've waited for Detox very long anyway, there's more to life and music than waiting on a Dr. Dre album and weighing out your existence against it goddamn.

  8. @Anonymous, I made a couple rambling opinions known in the last blog post below this one if you wanted to check otherwise I'd be repeating myself for the millionth time. But the bottom line IMO: no new single, nothing to do with Detox, everything to do with Beats brand and marketing in a very (potentially) lucrative market.

Don't trip out Chow, someone will upload it somewhere, Dre and Snoop performing in Asia isn't an everyday thing. You better believe over there that shit will get a lot of attention.

  9. I don't think slim knows that much about the good Dr plans for detox or his future plans for that matter. Also what fucking shine is he on about he ain't got no flow and as for being in competition with Dre doubt his album will ever make it out anyway without detox to showcase him no one will care who slim the monster is.

  16. No new song shame but let's hope he get a buzz of it and gets detox done

  17. that was nothing more than a promotion for dres headphones from snoop wearing them while he was performing to the very last thing he says before he gets off stage ,telling fans go get some dre beats ,did anyone with any sense really expect anything else to happen ...a detox single would of being dope but being realistic dre dont do suprises ,pleasant ones anyway ...REALTALK

  18. i almost feel bad for dre. the perfomance was one of the worst marketing bullshit i have ever seen. would forgive him if he put out Detox though.

  19. Fuck beats by Dre what's the point without fresh Dre beats. first quarter 2012 in my opinion but it don't look like his hart is in it i think he is trying but he knows he can retire very comfortably off beats money. Snoop is trying to push him even endorsing beats hope it works and detox comes out for good or bad

  20. Another beatby... commercial,
ah great, that's what we were waiting for.
    Isn't it??

I'm happy to see that our good doctor doesn't need to take a brake when it comes to make some cash ;)

  22. Its clearly been established at this point that everyone thats involved: DOC, snoop, Em, Slim the faggot ext all want this album to come out ASAP because it would help their carrers a lot but from Dres prospective its clear he is not ecen interested in putting it out any time soon or ever untils right. He making enough money of beats and his heart just isnt in the music. The secretcy and his bullshit performance displays that. Everyone else around him can tell the public all they want about Detox.. it doesnt mean shit to dre and he does not care about his fans

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah DOC responded "2012" to Deano's Twitter.

DOC has publicly said Dre reached out to him to finish Detox and was staying in LA for a half-year or something to get it done since he lives in Dallas. He's not there for no reason and Dre wouldn't bother otherwise. Snoop is definitely on it and wants it out. It's not like these guys are devoting their time and energy on a project they don't think will see the light of day but it needs to be good enough for Dre to feel like it's exactly what he wants. Snoop's time is worth money and DOC wants to do other shit like his own projects so feel that out and think about it. They all obviously want it to come out at the very least because there's been too much work and money put into it and the material is blazing.

It's frustrating Dre isn't real with his fans or giving us any word on anything but he's always been like that anyway. At least DOC is a reliable source that's reachable to fans but like anything with Dre, you never know, and something that's true one minute won't happen the next.

  24. Dre beats aren't even in beats by dre commercials anymore lol very bad sign
