The VEVO sounds like shit though, mp3 and itunes are much better. But you gotta buy the single CD.. Oh that's right, the lossless version is NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE. Until Detox comes out. Oh, and there's the 5.1 mastered DVD audio and SACD versions. I can't wait to hear this thing for reals.
I have a WAV rip of the single ripped from the vinyl with the instrumental. Lossless versions are never "available" unless an official CD is released and someone legitimately rips it in a lossless format such as FLAC, WAV, ALAC, etc. iTunes isn't great either it's just 256kbps M4A.
This song is hella dope I don't know why people aren't into it as much as they should be. I mean when I first heard the leak I wasn't but after a few listens, like real listens, I'm crazy about this song. It's the only halfway decent (officially released) Detox record. The lyrics/content may be lame but it's one of the most fire Khalil beats ever.
1. Dre didn't produce or co-produce it. The best producer in hip hop not having the inspiration to produce his own song?!?!?!? That's a fail. Epic fail as they say on the net.
2. It's average and unoriginal. Akon singin the hook is the biggest cause for making it a very unoriginal song. We've been hearing songs with a corny R&B hook by Akon for years now. I expect Dre to come alot more original.
I love this song. If most of hte songs on Detox are of this flavour i will have no complaints. And for people who think it was just Khalil who produced this, everyone says that Dre did a bunch to help boost and perfect the beat. This song is awesome and really represents a westcoast track to the T.
1) Dre didn't produce it but he mixed it which is what makes the song dope. People get hung up on whose name is on it but are so clueless to forget that a song mixed by Dre is what makes it next level. Even Khalil admitted his own mix of the song couldn't touch Dre's mix and that it was way better. Plus anyone who knows anything about Dre understands that's Dre's talent - taking good ideas or beats and turning them into fire. If you think because Dre didn't produce it that it didn't have all his fingerprints on the record that made it dope, you are mistaken.
2) I hate Akon and his hook is the weakest part of the song. Seeing that it's a Khalil joint, I would've thought he would've put Kobe on the hook which would've made it 10x better. Listen to Detox references like "This is Detox" with Kobe on it and tell me I'm lying. No idea why Dre thought Akon was the best fit (he's not and nobody likes him) but that's the way it is.
Best song i hearin for the detox release. i dont think dre has the voice anymore. hear him on 'i need a doctor'...terrible. eminem saved dre from fail on that track. snoop rips this like the old days. dre should stick with producin and never 'attempt' to rap again. RIP Nate Dogg. BTNH 4 LIFE
Kush is tight and detox worthy. Just cause akon is rnb and "soft", it doesn't mean that he shouldn't be on the song, he reminds me of devine the dude on Fuck You (2001 album). Plus he attracted young fans who think of dre as just the guy who did Beats By Dre and the guy behind some eminem and 50 cent songs.
Kush is a really well mastered track very high quality compared to other hip hop songs
ReplyDeletebut idk if it is detox worthy.
Still a great song!!!
You know they purposely spec'd this track AND the Beats headphones to have specific resonant frequencies that will make the experience more immersive.

Drefan since 91
akon does not have the right to say bomb-diggy. it sounds awkward coming out of his mouth.

ReplyDeleteA top track!
ReplyDeleteCertainly worthy of detox - a heavy beat
Where's NAS at, I would like to see him on the detox list somewhere, one of the all time greats
The song is good except for Akon. I hope Detox will have a little better songs than this!
