  4. There was a song they were sampling at one point called "going for the kill" by La Roux. I bet this is the next single

    1. they used the sample from this song on one of Game's cuts, it's titled "The Kill"... you can find it on Game's Purp & Patron mixtape

    2. True, but slim said dre sampled it too for one of his projects. I think slim gave too much away and I wouldn't be shocked if that song is sampled as a detox song.

  9. if there was a single they would release it before the gig, new tracks never go down well at concerts, the fans have to be familiar with the track in order for it to go off...dre knows this more than anyone...we shall see...

  10. I don´t think we will get any new announcements from Dre at Coachella, considering Kendrick´s new single (and it´s failure to top the charts), Slaughterhouse´s new album, 50´s new album...The best we can hope for is "Yes, it´s coming". Off course, I pray that I´m wrong.

  11. I wouldn't take it too literally because it's a very purposely vague statement. It could mean anything.

We all want it to mean Dre has finally decided to use Coachella as the jump point to announce Detox, get the mad screaming reaction from the sea of people at the set, and do a new song or two with Kendrick to finish his performance and get the media and music outlets talking up and down about Dre's album finally coming.

I hope that's the case. We all do but it could also mean Dre is officially inducting Kendrick as his new protoge, announcing his Aftermath Dre-backed LP, and performing The Recipe together.

"Kill move" is an interesting choice of words though because it implies this is the final move. Again, Dawaun could be hinting at anything, and maybe even he doesn't know what Dre is really planning since he's all about secrets, surprises, and making the most out of shit like that. I do know one thing: a kill move is Dre on stage, doing his last Coachella set, and announcing Detox to the world.

  12. It means they are going to put a big show. nothing about detox. The single w kendrick lamar is not for the main stream, its strictly westcoast g shhhhhiiiit. But it re affirms, that something special is in the mix for Detox and for k. lamars album these guys understand that hip hop is a movement.

  13. guys get #ReleaseDetox #WeWantDetox #Coachella trending on twitter

  14. it could simply mean both performing The Recipe that's all.

But a Detox release could be near, in-line with Kendricks album.

That is IF Dre is using the old formula of releasing his albums close to his proteges album (2001 & Marshal Mather, Chronic & Doggystyle).

  15. This means nothing. Just d. Parker shooting his damn mouth.

  17. RIP dr dre I'm tired of waiting and I'm getting too old. I will enjoy the new great music that is being made and stop waiting for something that will not live up to my expectations.

  18. Hmmm if what Dewaun is saying is true, then it definitely means that Detox is coming soon. I mean, we have all heard The Recipe at least a 100 times; so i don't think that something as drastic "the kill move" can mean something as lack luster as The Recipe being performed live.

  19. If it doesn't live up to your expectations then that's your fault. Life is too short to get hung-up on one rap album so much that you upset yourself. If that's enough to get you tripping, you're a lucky motherfucker, because you must have literally no problems in your life.

Don't get it twisted that Dawaun's post means anything. We all know what we want it to mean or even that we want it to mean anything. It was probably just Dawaun's own choice of words and not from Dre. In the end, the one dude above me is probably right, Dre is referring to making his set with Snoop as sick as they can make it and it will be. You can bet that set is on top of the list of the most hyped.

Forget about Detox, at least for the time being. That's my advice. That shit is as good as dead right now. Dre is focused on Kendrick and his LP, which is good, because it means it'll actually come out and hopefully include some actual, serious, focused Dre production which is the next best thing to Detox material. We know it's going to be sick and that's all there is to it.

  20. If he drops Detox it's not just a kill move, it's a fuckin' Big Bang!

  21. "the planets"...as if.........

  22. I think Dre mentioned The Planets like one time years ago discussing the concept vaguely as a passing thought.

As much as I think it has cool potential, Dre doing possibly long, calm, but epic instrumentals for a planetary concept album, it's just not going to happen. This dude can't even put out his mainstream as it gets, hyped as fuck third LP.

After Detox, being semi-realistic, I want Dre to do film scores and soundtracks and put some of his classical and music theory training to practice. A man of his age and stature should finish up Detox and leave hip-hop behind with a bang to do bigger and better things just like Quincy Jones left behind producing pop records. Hip-hop is all well and good but Dre can do much more and better, getting way more respect too, and if this guy has been studying music theory and really upping his chops studying Tchaikovsky and shit, I can see him scoring whole films doing amazing soundtracks.

Detox isn't going to define his legacy and if Dre was smart he'd stop worrying about the inevitable shoot-down it'll get and focus on the future. People learn to appreciate things because time has a way of putting things in perspective even if something like Detox is seen as a disappointment upon its release. Put it out, it's inevitable, and move on. Get on the conductor stand and directing symphonies and producing film scores. When Dre does things with a touch of classical, even if it's just those piano loops, I'm in love with it. He needs to take his skills to the next level and grow out of mainstream hip-hop that shits on him no matter what he does.
