  1. Snoop & West Coast stars producing beats for Detox. Haven't seen Snoop this motivated in a long time.

Note what Snoop says in the studio, We don't leave this place before we have four hits for Detox!! Two with Snoop and two with just Dre.

  2. snoop is right, they need to out top still dre, and some of the songs they played aren't as good as still dre

  3. I Aint posted for time but this clip made me want too. It shows where dre's at and probably been at for time. He needs that still dre to what g thang was. Without this hard single detox won't deliver nor hit the shelves. I got alot of respect For snoop he's keeping this album on the right path because he speaks the truth and tells dre he ain't got the shit like his yes men have him believe. With doggg and d.o.c in the mix once the album drops we know it's that shit we been waiting on

  4. HPS has it down, they've been on the lookout for that hard as fuck first single for a long time because that's the one that sets the caliber for the entire album and inspires these guys to get working and writing on the next level. If Dre put together Detox right now it would be fire, but it would be a quiet fire without a "Still D.R.E." single on there the same way "G Thang" defined The Chronic. That's completely true and that's what others have kind of said here and there for a while, and as someone that's kept a close eye on this for 7 years, I agree with that 100%.

Thank god Snoop and DOC know exactly what's up and what the score is to get Detox the way it should've been. "Under Pressure" was a piece of shit and all I can do is be thankful to the soul who leaked it (unless Dre's camp did it on purpose). When Snoop went on the radio and called out Dre with that look of disappointment going on about him surrounding himself with the wrong people and stagnating on the wrong sound, Dre picked up on that and reached out to DOC soon after to get to LA to finish this right. It's refreshing to see Snoop be focused and dead serious hitting every point real fans have brought up, and it gives me some hope the rest of these guys are influencing Dre to make it worth the wait. Good video, good news.

  5. those beats in the beginning of the video are sooo dope... this video is awesome i love to see snoop and the doc are setting things right. Was wondering why dre wasnt in the vid though.

  6. I agree with the above comment that dre is looking for that single . I hope this video was shot a few months ago . I also hope from then till kdot said it was being mixed they found it . My third and final hope is that doc was right when he said we will hear some promotion aka that single in november . who's feeling me?

    ReplyDelete
  7. big r co-sign that, they need that energy and that vision for the sound of Detox that was captured in this video, so i hope this took place before the mixing. i dont mind kendrick lamar writing but the beats and production need to be how snoop said it, operatic with keys, low hard hitting bass lines and hard as Sh*t drums. Im encoruaged by the fact that DOC is still back in the picture and Snoop is determined to get that sound, somewhat restored my faith in this project

  8. Kendrick said they were just mixing, not that it was in final mixing, so I don't know why everyone is getting excited. When you really think about it, mixing and tweaking is the only real thing Dre does in the first place. If it was in final mixing then the album is virtually finished; I think the real problem with finishing the record was they still haven't banged out that proper single that sets the standard for the whole album and if it was being finalized, we would have it by now or at least news of that song.

Plus Kendrick, even if he knew it was in final mixing, wouldn't be allowed to really say anything about it. People took his words "it's in mixing" and twisted it when all he was probably saying was they're just mixing the joints they have which is what they've been doing for a while.

  9. this video proves that "kush" and "i need a doctor" aren't official singles off Detox. They were just songs Dre had to put out for people to know he's coming. Can't wait for that OFFICIAL SINGLE with the bangin' head bobbin' beat! Snoop speaks the truth everybody knows the beat has to out do "Still Dre". So Far album features are Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Game, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Slim the Mobster, Kurupt, Daz, Soopafly, Sly (Nate Dogg wannabe) lol, Sly is the shit tho.very taltented and has done great work so far, wtf ever happened to Bishop Lamont?

  10. can someone tweet the doc how long ago was this session?

    ReplyDelete
  11. i really dont know how the next single would sound like?
but i disagree with on of the commentors saying it has to have those keys, and low bassline.
im sure dre can do that but it wouldnt make sense for him to recycle something he already did, look back at all the beats he has made they all have there own stature

  12. This video has to be from awhile back. Because if you look back at the video that Uzee has of Dre, Snoop and all the legends in France, Snoop plays Stoner's Anthem and u can see he's wearing tha same thing in this video. But like tha guy above me said can't wait for that OFFICIAL Dre Bangin' single!!

  13. That shit was the best video I've seen for a long time. The wave is coming. There about to be an earthquake in this mothafucka.

  14. Dre can top this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4X9ixEj59w

  15. I was thinking what if they released a video that was just a black screen with music for a whole song. Hope it makes it up, and Dre can see it.

  16. This Is Alsoo on Doggisode 3 Which is Few Months Old, You Seee It In Snoop Dogg's Stoner Anthem Clip. I Think Single Is Comin November, & album December

  17. There are no features that are guaranteed really, otherwise Bishop Lamont would be on that list when he won't be as that version of Detox was scrapped long ago and Dre has long moved on. Soopafly, Kurupt, Daz, and a lot of other people were just making contributions along the way up to now just as 70% of the entire hip-hop industry, it doesn't mean everyone will have a part in the final cut.

Kush and INAD were probably destined for Detox last year because even though Kush leaked, they were already preparing to shoot the video before it did. INAD also leaked but it was also a big radio song and likely leaked like Kush precisely because it was official. After the Spring came and passed with no word on Detox I just assumed Dre scrapped it again which is a good thing since Kush and INAD weren't exactly impressive and real fans' expectations weren't met. Under Pressure was almost the "official single" but after that leaked the negative response thankfully squashed it. Detox is a mystery until you see it on the shelf and nothing is final until then. Once they get that universally banging single that defines the album the way the last two albums had their defining tracks, the dye on Detox will be cast and we can start the countdown. Fuck the wait, just be glad the right people are surrounding Dre doing it right than the wrong people surrounding Dre doing it wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  18. just like snoop said in the video, it was competitive for artists to get their contributions onto the chronic 2001 tracks.

That type of competitiveness is what Detox needs, if it hasn't already.

  19. if em is on this album, then I hope he goes back to using his "eminen show" or "encore" voice. I don't wanna hear him yelling like he's been doing lately on detox.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I hope eminem is not on detox. This is a westcoast album, i want his first single to sound like his old shit, he needs to have a song like deep cover as his first single

    ReplyDelete
  21. Em will make this album because he sells copies if his name is on it and he saved Dre's label. There shouldn't be any doubt about it but since Em's music, flow, and habitual hook singing have degraded a lot since Encore, I hope he's just on a feature or two. He was on Die Hard, not expecting him to show up at all is just crazy.

The one thing I'm hoping is that Slim's presence on the album has been replaced by Kendrick and his style and lyrics were replaced by DOC or others. The last thing Detox needs to take it to the next level is rehashing Get Rich or Die Tryin' like he's trying his best to do or more songs with a middle-aged Dre rapping about smoking blunts like Kush (Slim claims he wrote all the lyrics). I want the album to be a declaration of the rebirth of the WC speaking real shit than the same played out gangster themes. Dre should put all those Top Dawg guys on Detox like Jay Rock, Kendrick, even Schoolboy Q instead of Slim, they're bringing back WC hip-hop and they're the future, and they've been doing it without any major labels or Dre production.

  22. There Is A Release Date For Detox !! On WIKI November 22 2011 ?!

  23. has anyone seen the new drdre website, for starters the bannr writen in red on the top is gone! the website looks more drebeats website than dr dre music website

  24. how many time do we have to say this?

Wikipedia is not a solid source

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hopefully the black hippy guys are included in this project. Schoolboy q, kendrick and ab-soul are really putting out strong shit right now.

And I really hope Ice cube will be in this too.

1500 or nothin are good producers, really like their live instruments style!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. When slim drops back against the wall with dre y'all won't be saying that. The track is incredible!

  27. Detox is the most competitive record in history!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. We have yet to hear anything dre produced for this album except die hard but that is yet to be confirmed it wasn't even confirmed by dre that anything was scrapped except the previous leaks dre is a producer and a mixer so I don't think it's fair to judge anything that was made for detox in the past cause we haven't heard Anything yet produced by dre for the albumy guess is anything created by dre previously would blow anthing by today's standards out of the water without the help of the doc or snoop dre knows what he's doing I won't believe any of this until it is confied by dre himself

    ReplyDelete
  29. Detox is coming out 2012 in my prediction like january. Reason why dr dre is in the illuminati like jay z and they going to take over. Btw OTIS ( only the illuminati succeed ) if dre does this he would sell crazy like jay z

    ReplyDelete
  30. DJ Khalil produced Die Hard.

Dre doesn't produce anything in that he makes any beats. Someone else will always get a producer credit because they made the beat; Dre has been buying beats for a long time so he can just tweak them to his liking. You're not going to hear anything "produced by Dr. Dre" or at least you can't expect to, dude doesn't make beats! The fuck you're talking about we can't judge unless we hear a track he produced by himself... Detox is gonna come out and you're gonna tell us we can't judge anything.

    ReplyDelete
  31. where does it say that dj khalil produced t?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I still don't think anyone from tde should be on detox..maybe Kendrick on just like a song or two but that's it. schoolboy q ain't all that, ab-soul is cool but not detox worthy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Die hard sounds like DJ Khalil production.. but who knows

Dre don't make beats by his own nowadays but he is still the greatest producer. Everybody gives 110% when rapping on a Dre beat. Everybody in the business talk only positive about him. Besides this Dre is the best mixer. The sound is always perfect. Too bad he didn't mix Drug test because it could have been much better! The mix was bad for that song!

Can't wait for the first official single!!! I hope it's a solo Dre track and bangs like Keep their heads ringin like back in the day!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. We have " NOT" heard anything produced by Dre yet for Detox that was finished or complete. Everything has either been leaked/hacked or produced by another artist. So I don't think it's fair to base Detox or what supposedly Detox was on anything that we have heard so far. People are saying versions of Detox were scrapped just because of the negative feedback from Kush I Need a Doctor. Where is the truth or source to that. I can guarantee you that there is a alot of the stuff earlier recorded through the years produced by Dre that is probably amazing and probably will be used on Detox when it gets released. sayin that all of that stuff was scrapped Where's the truth to that? Dre never mentioned any of that There is just speculation to that Don't get me wrong I like Snoop and the D.O.C. Im glas to hear they are involved but itsd going to take more than just them and older affiliates to make Detox classic material. I would really love to here some of the early works on Detox prior to now Im sure there is alot of classic material there

  35. dr.dre is a studio engineer he is bigger than just making beats for that clown that seh dre dnt make his own beats ask michele that nwa, ice cube , doc even snoop said dre made his own beats and if dre gets help he gives credit for example mel man on 2001. dr.dre is a legendary hiphop producer

    ReplyDelete
  36. i think the first single of detox should be about dr dre coming back to hip hop, killing all that swag shit and he is gonna bring in the new shit. and how much hip hop need him etc.

Or maybe it can be something in ties with
Aftermath, basically look around how the world is, and hip hop is also, it looks like its gonna be headed to a Aftermath

Possibly again something about LA/ Westcoast needs to be back in hip hop and this is 2012 the new age of the westcoast taking over

another one can be a club banger, but i cant find a concept to tie along with it.

die hard had a good concept

  37. im leaving for the army soon next tuesdday :/
im going to be gone for months hopefully detox isnt out by then

  38. Everything on 2001 was co-produced by Mel-Man and perhaps Elizondo (who wasn't getting any credit for anything then) and Storch contributed to a handful of tracks. Dre didn't produce anything on that album by himself but I still judge it as a Dre album.

I wasn't saying Dre has never made beats, I'm saying the truth which is Dre hasn't made beats for a long, long time. He buys them and like everyone says he conducts his magic on the soundboards mixing and tweaking the beats which matters the most if you have his talent and ear for sound - even if he's not any sort of musician. It's not a bad thing but get it right. Even when he was on Death Row he was putting his name on shit that wasn't his and his only big production was "California Love" in that era, which is a classic, but he sat on his ass taking forever to do anything because his output is absurdly slow. In those days it took him at least a year to finish a single song for anyone that wanted it and he was floundering until Em saved Aftermath.

Dre is a legendary producer because he directs any talent to bring out the best of their ability and micromanages every aspect the song until it's up to his extremely high standard. It isn't just about the beat or mixing. At the same time saying I can't judge Detox unless I judge songs he produced only by himself can only be said by someone that isn't truly familiar with Dre's music or knows how it works. I can judge it by judging Kush, INAD, or Die Hard even if he didn't make the beat, because Dre is the ultimate authority on what gets released and has that authority to do whatever the fuck he wants with the song before we officially get it. Those joints wouldn't be out unless he approved every imaginable aspect of it and if his name is on it as his song, then it's Dre's song.

2001 didn't have any tracks Dre made himself, yet I judge it as Dre's work (right?) and everyone understands Mel-Man made the beats. Dre has never sat down and made beats because that's not how he works. It's not a bad thing to say Dre is a conductor than a composer because the end result of a joint is really what comes from how you mix it if you have the deep ability he does to turn straw into gold which not many others can do - even the best beatmakers. Understand Dre isn't making Detox as much as he's putting together pieces that were crafted by everyone else given to him to illustrate what he feels defines a perfected hip-hop album.

You raise a series of legitimate points about Dre not typically producing beats on his own, but you are completely wrong with the assertion that Mel-Man made the beats for 2001 while Dre sat back and mixed. It is WELL documented (there is even a Time magazine article written about it) that describes Dre's working process during that period -- he starts with a handful of trusted musicians in a room playing different riffs, while Dre is on the drum machine. It's like a band. When Dre hears someone doing something he likes he'll tell them to isolate it and he'll refine it. Dre also plays the keyboards, back then he often played tunes and then had more experienced keyboard players play his riffs more fluently on the actual album. But they were working with DRE'S melodies. This dude IS a musician, the ultimate one, he's just not an instrumentalist. There's a huge difference there.

There is obviously no debate that now Dre's working process seems to be different. From everything we've heard about Detox, it sounds like he is straight purchasing beats from others who were not even in the room with him when they made the track, and THEN Dre starts working on it by tweaking etc. Thats alot different.

But it should be noted that just because Dre works with multiple other producers on his beats, that shouldnt be viewed as a negative. All of the hottest beats, with a few exceptions, come from collaboration with multiple producers who are fluent in different areas (drums, keys, strings, etc.) As an example, check the liner notes for Kanye's Dark Beautiful Fantasy and you will see that the tracks are produced by like 7 dudes, including Jeff Bhasker and Mike Dean who are COMPLETELY responsible for bringing the cinematic orchestral effect to Kanye's beats, which are indisputably hot. That's no hit on Kanye for working with other people that can bring something more extensive to his beats -- its a credit to him for realizing he doesnt have to do it all and it all comes down to the final product. The ends justify the means. And if DEtox turns out to be indisputably bangin', you'll hear nothing from me about Dre working with other people to do it.

  40. Detox coming 2012 january, in my views

    ReplyDelete
  41. I know the story about how he isolates band members but at that same time no credit was given to anyone, especially Elizondo who credits himself with a lot of bass riffs without a co-production credit next to his name. I didn't necessarily say Mel-Man did the ground work and Dre mixed and that's that, they co-produced everything together, which was to rebut two ideas: 1) I can't judge Dre's work unless it's something he did himself, and 2) If Dre made beats then he'd do it himself - just about everything he's done from then onward is co-produced with others.

Dre isn't any musician like other producers and that's limiting. He knows what he wants to hear which is different; that's a talent but it's the same league, it's not even the same sport. I play multiple instruments and I ASSURE you that's the difference between a conductor and a composer. Dre is a conductor and knows exactly what he wants in his head when he hears it but he can't write sheet music and TELL you what he wants off the bat, off what he hears in his head, and that's the difference.

I'm not hitting Dre at all because he has ears for sounds I can't even comprehend some of the time and he works differently and different isn't better or worse. All the best producers are guys who know what they want to hear but Dre is unique but does have a sordid history when it comes to credit and other people's work. He's not musically fluent but he has impeccable tastes for the highest standard and he's fluent in the studio. At the same time, dudes telling me I can't judge Detox because nothing has been a Dre-only work obviously don't pay attention.

I'm just saying Dre isn't a straight beatmaker because he doesn't need to be - he's going for the best. He's taking the pieces from all over and putting them together to make an album than straight up making an album. Good for him. For Detox he's looking to put his name on the best hip-hop album of all time and the industry is more than willing to sell him their best work so he can scramble that shit to the next level. I can't do what Dre does. Not many can. Yet I have an issue with people not realizing that he may be the best at what he does... but that's all he does too.
