Dre & Snoop Dogg to executive produce Tha Dogg Pound's next album

It's a flashback to the Death Row days, as Daz and Kurupt reunite with Snoop and Dre in the studio.
“It’s Daz and Kurupt getting that DPGC together. Big Snoop is overseeing it, Dre’s overseeing,” Kurupt told AllHipHop.com at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. “We just got off a road trip for beats with Dr. Dre, who is still working on Detox.”

While most of Tha Dogg Pound’s albums were independently released, Daz said Alumni will be a major release backed by both Dr. Dre and SNOOP’S respective machines.
According to Daz, Alumni will feature a combination of production between himself and Dr. Dre.

“We put the beats together, submit it to him [Dr. Dre] to let him know what we are working with and he comes and adds his flavor to it.

It’s natural.”

The last time Dr. Dre had an executive production credit on a Dogg Pound album, he, Daz Dilinger, and Kurupt were all on Death Row Records.

Now, along with Snoop Dogg, the crew is back together in the studio for Alumni, DPG's next release.

“It’s Daz and Kurupt getting that DPGC together. Big Snoop is overseeing it, Dre’s overseeing,” said Kurupt in an interview with AllHipHop.com.

“We just got off a road trip for beats with Dr. Dre, who is still working on Detox.”

Kurupt added that Alumni would be a major label release.

Said Daz of the project: “We put the beats together, submit it to him [Dr. Dre] to let him know what we are working with and he comes and adds his flavor to it. It’s natural.”

  1. Dont doubt Dre or call him sellout or whatever. Cant hate him when it looks like he goin back to his trademarked production/beats that we loved.

  5. That's some FUCKING good news !!! See? That means Tha Dogg Pound is back AND their next album would be executive-produced by the Dynamic Duo Dre & Snoop. I think by doin' this, Dr. Dre is returning them a favor because they worked on DETOX. Now, I KNOW that Dogg Pound iz on DETOX. Ain't no doubt about it.

  6. Awesome... here's another excuse to delay Detox. How about finishing one project before starting three more Dre? Nothing more productive then working on four albums at once. Give me a break. Finish FUCKING detox then put out Kendricks shit! Need to proritize and get your head right. Fuck Beats by Dre why not just let Jimmy handle that shit, fuck the money. Youre already one of the richest niggas on the planet. Then you can take a break. Dont get me wrong, Im always excited to hear new Dre produced shit but when there is a bunch of food on the table it can be a tough choice to decide what to eat

  7. It simply illogical to imagine that Dr. Dre would spend time as an executive producer in effect reverting back to the production similar to the g-funk era...Dre is trying to adjust the times (dumbed-down commercialized rap music) with new direction...in addition, every record he releases sells millions...that is his #1 concern.

Jay-Z sums it up best: If skills sold
    Truth be told
    I'd probably be
    Lyrically
    Talib Kweli
    Truthfully
I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
    (But I did five Mil)
I ain't been rhyming like Common since

  8. dre isn't even making the beats... they are just sending some beats to him to see if he approves basically.

  9. Dr Dre won't have much help on it, I heard this last year with the RED album were dre was the executive producer

  12. what i have learnt from previous years following dr dre detox news is that ,its not coming not anytime soon ,nether slim the mobster is coming,if the video is not getting the numbers iovine wants ,the album will be scrapped and slim will become the new bishop lamont, the dogg pound will never happen as far as dre 100% production or adding stuff on goes, lets face it folks dre is busy with beats it generating a 100s of millions of dollars ,the guy is thinking of having a break ,what else do we need to hear to absorbe that detox is not a priority for the next 3 years at least( i dont want to say it will never happen)

  13. IF HE'S GOING TO GET INVOLVED WITH THESE GUYS AGAIN HE SHOULD TRY AND TOUCH BASE WITH RBX, LADY OF RAGE, SAM SNEAD, WARREN G, AND GET THEM INVOLVED WITH DETOX ALSO WOULD LOVE TO HEAR AGAIN FROM THESE GUYS. ITS NICE TO SEE THESE GUYS BACK TOGETHER AGAIN AFTER ALL THE STUFF THAT WENT DOWN ON DEATHROW. THERE WAS ALOT OF MISSED OPPORTUNITIES BACK THEN AFTER ALL OF THAT WENT DOWN. THERE'S A NICE DOCUMENTARY ON DEATHROW ON YOU TUBE. CHECK IT OUT PEACE OUT

They have the same identical use of words and trust me I doubt someone except uzee would write paragraphs. He is a blogger what do expect and also he deleted my comment for what? Oh yes it's not "detox" related but if u want my opinion on this I doubt he would produce it but back to the point uzee you alter ego is plugin

  17. god damn we need a single to happen soon. this is the most frustrated i have seen the contributors of this blog since i've started going to this site.

  18. i cant justify why for every comment i remove - simply could be because of studpid random imature comments.

And im not plugin - if i have an opinion i use my name. Why would i have a 2nd id???

  19. Dre hasn't made a beat since nwa.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ^now that's just not true

    ReplyDelete
  21. "Dre hasn't made a beat since nwa."??? Man, you talk nonsense !! You know that's NOT true. Dr. Dre always works in a binomial way. Look at the Dre-Yella productions from the N.W.A. days. And the Dr. Dre-Mel Man era in 1996-2008.
But don't say Dr. Dre didn't produced nothing since N.W.A., you know that ain't true.

  22. They're not saying anything except the new DPG album will have input by Dre and Snoop, it isn't like either of them are committed to sitting down and producing actual songs like it's their new project.

It sounds like it's all on the horizon and they recognize it's after Dre works out and finishes Detox so there's no reason to freak out. Personally I'm not that hyped on what Daz and Kurupt do anymore other than sentimental novelty, I'd rather see Dre committed to the Black Hippy/TDE guys since they're bringing back the WC but it's all good to see everyone is loyal to each other after so many years working on each others' stuff. I don't think DPG has anything to do with Detox but you never know, it just sounds like they threw the idea out since they just did a show together on the road.

Also there is some dumbass stupidity roaming this blog for someone to out of the blue claim Uzee is me or vice versa when we don't even type the same at all. We're not even in the same continent. I don't know Uzee or have every actually talked directly with him, I just enjoy his site and the effort he's kept up to give us all a place to express our opinions and thoughts. It's just too bad it's gotten so well-known to the point that more and more idiots are flooding the comments much more than before...

  23. I honestly think that until the first single comes out, contributors of this blog should stop coming here. dre is not going to be putting a album out soon by the looks of it.. and there is so any more hip hop artists that we can rely on out there that we can enjoy. having come to this blog about half a year has taught me that the whole situation leading up to detox has been full of repeative bullshit stories that indicate that we are not any closer to detox then before because we simply cannot trust dre.

Until we see an actual single we are just stuck here reading these stupid articles and constant justified comments that express impatience and frustration with dre's ridiculous approach when it comes to releasing any kind of music. I think we would be much happier if we would just leave this site alone and just wait for detox like the rest of the world has... by just forgetting about it. seriously if you are a hip hop fan you have no reason to be stuck on having just one unreliable artist giving you musical satisfaction. It's the same stories over and over. Its the same disappointment over and over.
We will all know when the album is coming out... and that is when the first OFFICIAL single comes out... and you don't need to keep coming to this blog to know that the fist official single that is going to set everything in motion for this album has come out.
The album will come out when it comes out, and my point is that there is no reason to keep up with the repetative bullshit leading up to the point where dre actually decides that he as an album ready to release. Once that first single comes out, then we will know that the album will come out and we will get what we get. We cannot control what dre puts out so why worry about it? go listen to other hip hop in 2012 and just forget about this whole detox mess. 2012 is going to be a good year for hip hop, andre 3000 is supposidly coming out with a new alubm, blackstar, nas, kendrick lamar, big boi, T.I., among others are coming out with a new albums. So go ahead uzee delete my comment, or plugin react by saying that misery loves company or some shit... but any logical person knows that there is no reason to follow something that you know will most likely end up making you disappointed. If dr. dre happens to come out with a new album in 2012 then that's awesome... but there is no need to get caught up in this shit in the meantime. Just go and enjoy hip hop.

  24. Number one, music comes in waves. You don't just drop an album in isolation--it has to be backed by support, similar sounds. Dr. Dre is in a unique position due to his breadth in the industry and now he has not just label support but a ton of money to invest in the next wave. That's why you're going to see an album like "Detox" which is it's code name come with a wave of other titles. Some of them will be driven by Dre and his support, some of them will be people following the trend to cash in. It's like the stock market, someone starts a trend and everyone jumps on. Now, Dr. Dre has been in the business long enough to know you don't just manufacture a wave, it has to gain it's own momentum. Now, more than ever, people are connected to each other and they smell a marketing ruse a mile away. A producer has to not only produce the right record, but almost change the times around himself to be more accepting of the new trend, to sell the album. Marketing can only go so far, even a great product can only go so far. Think about your favorite local restaurant. They might have the best food you ever ate but they only have the one little restaurant serving your little town. That's an example of a great product not "making it" on the national stage. And, that's the thing about Dr. Dre and his associated projects. He's never really BEEN about mass marketing, he's never really BEEN about the business. He's always had this vibe of "doing it for the streets". It's just all the non-streets people wanted to feel a little of it too. The streets are intriguing, they are a new story for a lot of middle class people. So you have the streets, and Dre is going to help them out by lifting as many young niggas up as he can by making sure their albums are ready and available when the wave comes. And he's going to make sure that all the guys that have helped him on the way are getting taken care of as well. And that's just a natural fit with what everyone wants. You're not just going to want to put on what we're calling "Detox" and put it on repeat. You're going to want to switch it up. You're going to want other new stuff to turn to. He's not going to just drop an album all by itself and let you get all nostalgic when you turn it off and go listen to 2001 or the Chronic. That doesn't do anyone any good and it isn't MOVING FORWARD>. Dre's formula is to do it for the streets, and we all want him to and that's what we want. Speak for the poor and disenfranchised. Tell the story of people who don't have the voice to tell. And make me feel as cool as you must feel to be helping all those people.

  26. Perfect time for Dre to test the waters. Produce a track and see if the majority of the hip hop fans think it's classic. If they do, then he can safely drop Detox.

I have followed this blog a long time and I have only just started commenting because there is too much hate and irrelevant discussion. All these muthafuckers will be up dre's ass when he announces a release date so quit talkin shit!

Because I don't take the bait and whine about shit I made up like a little kid, bitching that Dre ain't releasing Detox by the deadline I made up myself, I gotta take shit and I'm a dickrider. As to Plug-in, he writes excellent material and usually is spot on with what he says. Keep contributing Plug-in -- fuck these idiots who say the posts are too long -- its only cause those idiots can't read that there is any problem at all.

  43. Everyone bitching on this blog is a damn whiner and immature. Do you HAVE to vent on this blog? Is there not enough going on in your lives that you have to come here and cry and moan about how your feelings are hurt because of another grown mans actions??
And NO, I'm not talking about plugin or others who actually have something interesting to say. I'm talking to everyone else who just comes here expecting a new Dre joint every single day and get upset when uzee posts miscellaneous Dre news.....which is what this blog is all about! Shut the fuck up and grow some..

    ReplyDelete
  44. ^I agree. Like i said if you can't take the wait that dre is putting us all through, then simply forget about detox for awhile and come back to this blog when you have some content to discuss relating to detox that is not bitching about dre or what other people have to say about detox. This is not a place to complain, but a place for constructive discussions relating to dre or detox. Seriously it's not worth getting worked up over this shit.. its music. there is plenty of other artists out there you can focus your attention on for the time being.
