I Need a Doctor leaps TOPS the iTunes charts

Just less than a day into the release, 'I Need a Doctor' just passed 'Love the Way You Lie' on iTunes into rank 84, 13, 9, 3, 2 and now ranking at 1.

Dre is maybe trying to pull in new/young generation people that dont know him, through Eminem etc.  Back in 1999, the young folks heard about Dre through Eminem  etc.  Maybe it was the same for some who were young back in 1999.

They probably using the same strategy now. Maybe im wrong.

Watch this space for the new music video which was directed by Allen Hughes, who was behind the movie 'The Book of Eli'.

Support Dr Dre and buy the single

  1. I'm showing my dissatisfaction by not buying the single and deleting the track off my iPod. Dre doesn't need my support for this track when he has Alex da Kid for support.

  3. Common Uzee,

As a true fan, you can't ask us to buy the single. When Detox comes out then you might tell us such a thing but not for IND.
I'm still hoping that this thing is just a marketing move and still waiting for Detox.

    Peace

  4. OK dont buy it then, but im thinking of everybody. I aint gonna not encourage just because half the fans are disappointed.

I like the track, and dont trash me for it. The topic is meaningful, and also the flow of eminem and dre are good as always. In addition to good vocals from skylar grey.

If fans dont like it, that fine.

    Peace

  6. I may buy it, but only once the physical single comes out, just like I did in case of 'Kush'... I never buy digital music, it sucks....

  7. btw, did u see? Kush is only 89. on the list... that's bad.....

  8. Dre has never had #1 singles. Look at still dre it topped like at #44. So kush being so low doesnt reall mean anything.

  9. This single won't be on Detox. Gotta give it to Jimmy Lovine & Dre some marketing credit though.

  10. I come from Sweden and I can't find the song anywhere. Shouldnt it be released worldwide at the same time?

  11. it has now leaped to 3rd rank, holy crap lol

I think its a US release only yet. UK Europe little later i think.

  12. In response to a previous user's comment about this song not being on Detox...Uzee whats you're opinion? It would be hella marketing to get Dre back "out there" with an end result of bringing in non Dre fans since well hes been around before a lot may have even been born. Ultimately the final Detox cut would not include this song but the word is obviously out and they also seem to be doing damn well already with this release in terms of download sales.

  13. So any tip on how I can hear the song because I can't find one.

  14. r u stupid or just pretending? go to any website like youtube and type 'i need a doctor'... or just google it... or even just go to dre's website.. as simple as that...

  15. POW - it has now KO'd Bruno Mars off the 2nd spot in itunes charts.

Dre is trying to pull in new/young generation people, through Eminem etc.

Back in 1999, when i was young, how did i hear about Dr Dre? Through Eminem, thats the truth.

They probably using the same strategy now.

    U can listen to the track here - http://www.drdre.com/i-need-a-doctor : )

  17. You heard about dr. dre because of eminem. That's pretty sad. You missed the best beats dr. dre ever did which were at deathrow records.

  18. eerrrrmm no - i started off with chronic 2001, then went backwards to chronic and then nwa etc.

    Dont make assumptions pleez.

  19. Don't you think that the label or associates buy these songs of itunes to put the track in the top 20 marketing category. People please. C'mon. Have'nt you learnt anything from the past??

    ReplyDelete
  20. the very early leak also helped alot.

  22. My friend JMAC

I really dont know if this will be on detox or not.

Second u gota understand the strategy:

Dre is trying to pull in new/young generation people that dont know him, through Eminem etc.

Back in 1999, the young folks then heard about Dre through Eminem etc. Maybe it was the same for some who were young back in 1999.

  25. Even if some people heard about the doctor through Eminem. It was done with bangin tracks like "forgot about dre", "bad guys always die" or "guilty conscience".
So that does not explain why Dre put out this thing...
Uzee, do you agree with me? Or Do you think that as long as he's rapping with Em on this one, it is a good track? I would like to know your opinion on this one since you said that you heard about dre through Em. Maybe it could explain why there's two point of view for INAD.

Peace and thanks for charing honestly your thoughts Uzee.

    Peace

  26. Yes you are right, with Eminem Dre put out banging tracks.

But i was hooked before those 3 tracks u mentioned. I saw Eminem 1st time with that gimmicky track 'hi my name is'. So that hoooked me in to Eminem.

THEN i saw forgot about Dre video, and saw Eminem again, and then started listening to Dre after that.

So i was hooked into Dre, through a gimmicky Eminem track. The same could be happenin with new/young fans now lol.

    Maybe the same formula?

Regardless of of anything, Em n Dre tracks and Snoop n Dre tracks do well.

    Peace

  27. Yeah. Clearly it's hitting the Emienm listeners. Both this and Kush have a certain storytelling aspect that I like. I think Dre's verse is a purposely weak on this track because it plays into the story of the song itself, about Dre struggling to put out this album. So it's both lyrically and sylistically self-referential.

And really, the production is world class, I think the drdre website version is better timed than the skylar grey website one so that musta been a leak too. But look what they've done, they turned a leak into buzz. Who says there can't be 3 or 4 versions of a song released anyway? I love how they are breaking every fucking rule. And if that's the case, they can break the stupid tuesday rule and release on 4/20.

    By the way:

"Albums are released on Tuesdays because sales figures for albums are released on Mondays. While films are ranked according to weekend sales figures, the billboard charts are determined according to weekly sales. Thus, in order to maximize their sales potential, albums have to be released immediately after the posting of the previous week's sales figures."

    Love the site, Uzee.

  28. It's a great song,it's dark and haunting, and the lyrics are very emotional ...Keep up the good work Uzee

  29. Thanks Club Guilt.

Yeah I now see the dark aspect after the grammys performance. Emotional aspect was spotted from the start.

After the grammys the single has gone back to the top i think.
