The Doctor is in. Dr. Dre reflects on his storied career and life in the seven-and-a-half-minute video for “I Need a Doctor,” the first official single from his long-awaited album Detox. Directed by Joseph Kahn, the clip opens with the Compton rapper getting into a car accident while nostalgic images of him as a husband, father, and entertainer flash across the screen.
Years later, his loyal protégé Eminem is seen standing by his side while he remains on life support. Producer Alex Da Kid and singer-songwriter Skylar Grey make cameos as doctors who try to bring him back to life.
When he does finally awaken, Dre wastes no time getting back into shape, emerging stronger than ever. The video closes with a shot of him visiting the late Eazy-E’s grave.
The video below is MTV special RapFix discussing about Dr Dre, with special guests Alex Da Kid and Skylar Grey.
the video will be replayed (also for europe) in a few minutes on the link below, dont miss it!

i think dr dre was watching too much DragonBall Z, he looks like cell in that testube
ReplyDelete7:24 R.I.P. brotha!
ReplyDeletetight beat at 1:30. hope its on detox
ReplyDelete^^haha good lookout, Dre videos sometime have those catchy mini beats at the start or the end of a music video.
ReplyDeleteYeah for ex. on Cali luv video song beat that was made for Chronic 2
ReplyDeleteAnd the album comes out when???????????????????
ReplyDeleteha?? what beat i look in 1:30 and nothing wat the ??
ReplyDeletelook at the first video, with just the INAD video... when he is driving the car.
ReplyDeletegot it good beat though!
ReplyDeleteand the video i have to say it is pure quality!
detox coming...
I'm sorry....the song just lets down the videos target story. The song is not big enough for the story. The music is letting it down. And thats Dre's area.
ReplyDeleteGreat designer set. Very detailed.
man, the song is perfect for that video, is the perfect intro for whats coming ( detox ), dre is coming huge! for real!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued to hear the new direction Dre is going. You couldn't be expecting a gangsta rap album - it'd be fake as fuck. Dre is like a 50 year old dude who's been living lavish for 20+ years.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear his maturation on records. For example, Dre & Em tried to sound like they did in 99 on Old Times Sake and it sounded lame. I liked that Eminem grew up on his last album, and I can't wait to hear a full Dre record.
I thought the video was cool, and I like the song. The hook is great. It's a really good pop song. You guys need to move on, there are other hardcore/gangster rappers you can listen to now that are dropping new stuff, Dre is growing up and trying a different style for himself. I would hate to hear an album like the Chronic or 2001 put out this year as Detox. I
ReplyDeleteWelp guess I gotta take back any shit talk that may have ensued early on about this song. It seems we didn't get the whole picture with just the song. The video ABSOLUTELY bring it together. Perfect come back song/video/concept. I ain't stannin or anything but maybe this nigga actually has his shit together for his last hooraw. And maybe we'll all be impressed with what's next...
ReplyDeleteHey im glad u now get the whole thing man, most people nowadays dont admit it.
ReplyDeletemaybe this song was not supposed to be a Banger... maybe its just an introduction... seeing the video, its like this is a reminicing track where he was lost.. but now he's coming back... So maybe just maybe the second single will show us the "Wrath of the Aftermath"
ReplyDeleteexactly what i thought...when i saw the video it made sense why Dre only had one verse...Kush was a buzz song it leaked ppl liked it they made a video INAD is a intro and now the next single should tell us what Detox will sound like...this was all planned out
ReplyDeleteyes your both right and spot on: ) , and finally folks are getting it, i hope lol - i just think its always crazy when people start talkin negative and crap before.....
ReplyDelete"Hey im glad u now get the whole thing man, most people nowadays dont admit it" - like you knew Uzee! Whatever dude.
ReplyDeleteno i never knew like an intel or somethin lol - but if u add some of the pieces together you can sort of work it out
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I am not crazy about the actual song but I like the concept and the video is amazing. I agree with others Dr Dre is nearly 50 years old Detox probably won't be in the same place 2001 album and Chronic 92 was. I am still looking forward to Detox though surely "I Need A Doctor" having a official video like this must be sight Detox is finally coming out. The question is when will the release date be? Summer 2011? There is still no solid release date in sight.
ReplyDelete^April release is still very possible.
ReplyDeleteUZEE finally great to hear some positive remarks. Good comeback song and introduction. Even greater video. As you can see Dre has matured. This is the beginning of Detox. I'm starting to get excited again about it. I know it won't be much longer. Keep up the great blog. I don't even visit aftermath anymore . #1 Dre info/blog site. PEACE ART MAN
ReplyDelete^wot was ur username at Aftermath...?
ReplyDeleteAmazing emotional video.
ReplyDeleteCorny, poppy, unoriginal song.
Drefan since 91
