I think dr Dre has the time and money to crate the perfect storm of beats and rhymes with the hottest rappers of all times along with rappers and producers of the last five years to create the perfect album 12-15 songs perfected detox.
Cube doesn't know anything, he's just making a sensible guess that anyone can assume to explain why he hasn't put out Detox. I doubt he's been in the studio and knows what's up. It could be true but why take it as gospel? If you ask anyone remotely connected to Dr. Dre about why Detox still hasn't seen the light of day, everyone will give you their answer. It doesn't mean you believe everyone.
Only Dr. Dre knows and decides if he sees the finish line on the horizon on Detox, and everyone knows he doesn't put anything out, much less entire albums, until and unless: it's absolutely up to his perfectionist standard, sets the bar musically, and the entire album flows cohesively from the intro track to the very end. That and it has to have the smash singles like Still D.R.E. and The Next Episode. Not easy to do when you're approaching 50, have all the time in the universe to do it, and your pick of everyone in the industry to make every part of every track absolutely synthesized with perfection. Taking all the talent he uses and fitting it all into one next-level LP is like fitting a watermelon in a Coke bottle.
Wait to see if he does or says something at one of the Coachella sets, but don't bet anything on it... hopefully he just gets an enormous response from the audience and sees the light that we're all anticipating Detox to get motivated to put it out.
I agree with cube. Dres top concern is making money, not music. The main reason why Detox is taking so long to come out is not because he's a perfectionist, and has been stuck trying to put together the perfect masterpiece, its because at some point this project has become such a myth that hip hop junckies are now desperately jonesin for it. He knows this and has exploited his fanbase for cheap promotion. Although the two are not directly coorilated, he nonetheless has an endless supply of word-of-mouth marketing and he uses to sell his headphones, like it or not. What motivation should he have to focus on the music ova business? People will still keep talkin and he'll keep sellin dem headphones. And he also knows it's win-win for him caz he's only gonna sell even more if/when the album actually does drop. HOPEFULLY SOON DAMNIT
Cube said it himself. Why is dre gonna work on an album when hes selling headphonez. I think he gave up on detox like alot of other projects (Rakim, ice cube, and Timbaland) and is just riding the detox hype just to keep people talking about him and his beats headphonez. I would do the same too. Lol
Cube doesn't know anything about Detox more than I do, and I bet Dre hasn't called him to work on anything in a long time. No disrespect to Cube, he's a legend, but he doesn't know what's up with Detox or what Dre is doing; anyone can guess he's on his headphones game than in the studio, but Dre sold a stake to HTC months ago.
The only potential time we may or may not hear anything official about Detox is at Coachella when Dre and Snoop do their set together. I doubt anything will happen since it's probably just a nostalgia set doing material from Chronic/Doggystyle/2001, but there are mad people betting their lives on hoping Dre actually announces something. Dre is probably in the studio, doing the same shit he's done for the last decade, probably devoting some time and work to that corny ass Slim da Mobster's debut album that will never come out either.
Damn nigga dre, u didnt get enough wonton soup in the motherland? I thought that shit was gonna help u out but it's all goods niggy cuz dre gonna be my number nigga, my nuggah dre On the real this nigga got to leak some shit for my ears, I'm bein real AF the last leak was chillin/mr prescription
Kizman, dude, you totally copied and pasted that comment from ME that I posted on HipHopDX earlier today. I'm not even joking man, I seriously posted that exact shit and you copied it and brought it over to this blog, where I'm a regular, to paste and pretend it's your own opinion??
Man what the fuck! If you other guys don't believe me, look at the way it's written, compare it to my past posts, and tell me I'm still wrong. Plus I'm not going to lie about some bullshit like that, I'm just dumbfounded I come on here and see someone else post the exact comment I made on another site about this same story. Uzee, start regulating, man...
If you look at the business side of things beats by dre as a brand is coming to an end. Dre has sold his stake in the business to htc and monster are pulling out at the end of this year. Monster made the headphones so dre will have to find another company with a different name if he wants his "headphone legacy" to continue. Beats by dre has nothing to do with dre in terms of business. He will still promote it because his name is on it, but dont expect another fenway park visit.
This is the ideal time for dre to push this album out. Slim, kendrick, and snoop are all dropping this year and dre knows that he has to pull his finger out. Coachella could influence dre. If the crowd go wild and start chanting about detox, then it may give him that motivation. As we all know dre struggles with motivation. In his xxl interview he mentioned that he felt at some periods he was doing it out of obligation. Hopefully Coachella, and the release of slim the mobster, and kendrick lemars albums will motivate him to drop detox.
Jay Electronica Act 2 is apparantly finished and "the wait is over"-never thought this album would see light of day, maybe there is hope for detox afterall!
It's not only bout the money to Dre. He's got a passion bout music too. He's not like 50 Cent who's only in it for the money, fame and power. I'm sure Dre would love to drop one more classic. It's just that he's in an era right now where he doesn't have the inspiration. He can still produce a good track, but he knows that good is not good enough. Lot of producers can produce good tracks. Dre produced tracks should be classic.
Maybe Detox album will cost 500 dollars...
ReplyDeleteLike I always been saying...
ReplyDeleteDre don't give a shit about detox and as long as those headphones are selling...that album will not drop.
