D.O.C: "...Dre is finally getting what he's been looking for..."

Today the D.O.C. (@WESTCOASTDOC) stated the following:

"I keep hearing Dre is finally getting what he's been looking for so maybe we can all celebrate soon"

  1. Fellas great news. DOC just tweeted "i

    1. That's great news, I'm not putting out false hope but in sure that news is something invole with detox

    2. maybe he means he has found the right sound, and now will use this as a foundation for the rest of the other detox tracks.

      So a mini celebration lmao

      Delete
    3. or maybe the album is done why celebrate if you found the right sound? im not saying the album is done but there is no reason to celebrate soon

    4. I think that he was very close to pushing the album a year / 1 1/2 years ago, but first decided to hear opinions of friends...I always have thought Dre sounds best on his own beats (as do most rappers), and the original leaked tracks were all produced by various other hip-hop producers (Alex Da Kid, etc.), and most of the listeners probably didn't like the sound of Dre on those songs (Kush sucked, and I Need a Doctor was only good with the help of Em). So, I think he went back into the studio to make his own beats and redo the entire album almost entirely on his own...I don't know if I'm right, but the "Hey Young World" leak on YouTube is certainly a Dre beat, and sounds much more like something he will kill. Here's to a mainly-Dre-produced Detox...

  2. Or it could mean he is starting the album over from scratch with the new sound..

    "Please let it end"

    1. I'm starting to think that maybe he never really started the whole album over and over again from scratch... maybe he just kept all of the best shit in that database while at the same constantly adding new material to the mix. None of us really know anything. However, what I do know for sure from following Detox over the years, is that Dre has a massive amount of unreleased music produced at this point. Why would he need to start over again? He's always at work, he just keeps tweaking it again and over again until he gets it right. Maybe he finally has it right and is ready to release it!

  3. Or maybe he's found a release date suitable with he and interscope????Lets get ready all celebrate...FWise

  4. Shows he's still working on it but this has been a long time coming. If he can settle and stick with what DOC says he's found, it means there's a good chance Detox is on the way by this year. It could mean Dre has a lot more tracks to make, mix, and finish but not necessarily; I think if Dre has finally found his musical focus then the rest is easy. The hardest part has been understanding exactly what he wants to do which seems to have been the big creative struggle all this time.

It also shows nothing means it's done until it's actually done. The finish line is only ahead after Dre turns it in because until that time, anything can happen and usually that's the case. Dude is going to keep working on it until the very end and that's a fact, and if it means all this frustrating wait has culminated into him finally realizing how to musically redefine the genre and execute it only the way he can, then we're closer to a real chance of release than we've ever been.

It also doesn't have to mean Dre just now found "the sound" that defines the album, it could just mean he's finally filling in the voids he needed to finish it. Everyone, including Khalil, has said that until Dre figures out how to fulfill what he's missing then he's not putting it out. DOC could be talking about Dre finding what's been missing, if he's saying to celebrate "soon", there's a good chance things are finally on the horizon.

can we hear some new music please instead of all this talk

  7. that's reassuring news :-) if Dre doesn't get what he's been looking for we will never hear Detox.

  8. Cant everyone see DOC is speaking in riddles? He is telling us without telling us Detox is done and ready for release...The interscope board has heard the album and they love it...Dre has found his own approval and everyone elses whos heard the album!!! April is the month I said it first...FWise

  11. Really hope Dre got the inspiration back again to produce something sick and has come up with a sick new sound. Now he should work non-stop on Detox for a year and put it out. Just like he did with the Chronic albums.

    Drefan since 91

  12. It could mean that but DOC doesn't say anything in absolutes so it could be anything. What we can get excited about is that things might be falling into place for real this time. The clock has run out for Dre to start over but if he knows what he wants to do then he's going to do it. I don't think Dre is going to finish Detox and sit on it waiting for Interscope to roll out promotional campaigns, spacing out schedules, etc. because that dude's biggest concern is going to be this shit leaking at the speed of light if it's passed around beyond his eagle claw grasp.

February is doubtful but I still feel 2012 is the year and that's good enough for me.

  13. Thats great news!
DOC also said in his tweets that the new Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg song is old and he wasnt even sure if the song was finished.
So im not going to pay attention to that.
Now im lookin forward to the real shitt!
everybody needs to check out Mel Mans tweets (@Mel_Man_Melvin)
he's really repping Aftermath and sayin Detox is a classic in almost every tweet!!!

  14. gotta say people who come on here with so called inside information or who claim to be close to people in the aftermath camp is highly debatable to say the least ,i think that dre keeps hes cards close to his chest so much so that hes the only one that knows exactly where the album is actually at apart from jimmy iovine these people should give a detailed statement or prediction on what they know and if turns out to be accurate well then they can take the glory off everyone on here ...i follow this site pretty regular never really post just felt like some people come on here claiming random unsubstantiated shit and need to back it up

    ReplyDelete
  15. ^^ for that reason any random bullshit without any source in the form of a link will not be posted.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Looks like there is potentially good news coming from the aftermath camp. Dre finding what he is looking for could mean a number of things. It could mean that one track he was missing, or it could mean a different vibe to the album, however, i dont think he is restarting the whold process, he simply cant. Dre has gone past the point of no return and i believe that he has to use the tracks he gathered from the 10 years. It wouldnt be sensible for him to start it again. The aftermath inverstors wouldnt allow due to the staggering amount of money they have put into the "Detox project."

However, i can see an ending and i believe that it will be around april time when we see something announced. However, we shouldnt get carried away. We were close in 08 and dre changed his mind, we were close in 2010 and 2011 but dre decided other wise, so we should be cautiously optimistic. People were talking about how long this project was in 08 and that was 4 years ago. But i believe that this year has to be the year. Dre obviously has the tracks and hopefully has found the missing piece.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's not likely, it's against what I personally think, but Dre could do what he wants. He's the executive producer of Detox, along with Iovine, so Dre has nobody to answer if he decided today he wanted to scrap and start over. If the dude has been working on it on and off for ten years now, he can take another year or two or five if he damn well pleases. Don't get it twisted like Dre is under deadlines or he's tight with money - if that was the case, we wouldn't be in 2012 and still no Detox. The opposite shit is true.

Dre isn't going to do that but IMO this album isn't going to carry tracks for years and years ago. He's said a lot that he doesn't fuck with old shit and I highly doubt Dre was on some next-level 2012 and beyond shit from 2002-2009. Generally nobody wants to put out material that's already years old, Busta shelved his entire second Aftermath album because by the time he could put it out, it wasn't fresh anymore.

This isn't a collection of tracks made and kept this whole time because 1) Dre has scrapped this album at least twice so that makes no sense, 2) Dre has been consistent in making cohesive albums that have a focused concept, sound, and formula - he doesn't just mix and match material, and 3) He doesn't put out old sounding material, otherwise he wouldn't have scrapped whole albums to start over.

I think what DOC is referring to are the various bits and pieces this cut was missing. It's probably not a simple one-word answer to say what "it" was that Dre was missing because a conceptual sound or whatever has to be embedded within a lot of different parts of an album. I think the recording is done or about finishing up in the near future. You listen to The Chronic or 2001, you can hear "the sound" and how each track represents it in its own way, eventually illustrating a whole picture representing the concept, and that's probably what Dre has finally warmed up to settling on. It isn't just writing, producing, and recording all-new tracks but it's definitely in the mixing, it's in the beats, it's even in the way the rapping is delivered. Dre doesn't need to start over to get that done; honestly I believe the hardest part is over and finishing it up is going to be mad easy when he knows what he wants to do. When Dre knows, it's over, nobody can top him in executing it through an album.

  18. people can really over complicate things to much taught leads to questioning the initial spark or idea that you got in the first place, lets get it straight dr dre has always delivered quality music either producing or by dropping his own albums, his two solo lps are classics of the highest quality and like every one else im super hyped about detox and dont think dre will dissapoint like mel mans recent tweet said trust him hes the doctor.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Mostly agree with you plugin, but how long are the aftermath investors going to wait? In 2010 and 2011 we have only had game and em's albums and a mixtape. I know that aftermath is a boutique label but if i was an inverstor and i had found out that dre was scraping detox to start again i wouldnt be very happy. However, i dont feel as though he is scrapping it due to the positive vibes coming from mel man and DOC.

I agree with you on dre having the next best shit, but if there is a piece of music from 2002-2009 that is unquestionable then i think dre will put it on Detox. In a recent interview 50 said that some of detox resembles the chronic! This is dre's last album and i am sure that there will be some tracks reminiscing the past.

I believe that the worst thhing Dre can do is include too much slim the mobster in detox. I dont mind a few features but if he resembles the "hitman role" on 2001 then i believe it may ruin the album. However, i am sure that dre will have the right balance between young and old talent.

    1. Dr. Dre isn't beholden to anybody in a traditional way as an artist because he's made way too much money for Interscope and built an empire upon Eminem and 50 Cent. It's not Dre being under investors to put new material out, it's the investors counting their blessings Dre is even planning to finish and put out Detox under their umbrella.

Aftermath is a boutique label under Interscope distribution, like Shady and G-Unit, so it grants them autonomy and creative freedom to do what they want.

The guy talking about it not being a "nest egg" has it right, Detox isn't about money or investors, but the thing is Iovine has a say because it's HIS job to worry about selling records. It's a weird balance because Dre is such a veteran, made them so much money, and works only when he feels like it that he's left alone with all the creative freedom and money in the world, but as Iovine is co-executive producing it he still gets the final say on the final product. The only thing holding Detox back is Dre anyway, and now hopefully no more!

  20. Let me sum this whole mystery up. What Dre lost that he's been looking for? The answer my friends is "motivation."Dre is finally motivated to release Detox!!! Thats what was missing everytime he finished Detox. He lost the desire to finish and release Detox, Dre has finally found the motivation in his music to deliver this album to us...Another classic, he was never motivated by his past detox albums to release them. Thats why he scrapped them over and over. Dre has found the perfect sound thats why he's motivated to release Detox.......and thats why he's laying down tracks for rick ross,ti,and nelly...he's feeling and loving his sound right now....he's motivated FWise

    2. Cheers for the spelling mistake sir but if you read what i said you would have seen that i mentioned the "hittman role." I personally think that Hittman is dope as well, i just think that slim the mobster will be featured heavily on detox. Just trying to keep the dicussion going foward.

  21. can we all stop talking about detox as a "nest egg" and that dre gives a shit about the so-called investors your guys are referring to. im not a business man but i do know a few things. one being dre has a dick load of money as does jew face iovine and that they dont need investors or to have their companies public. two being that if you do get investors for a project without a due date then accumulate a some 300 million dollars you then dont give a shit about said investors . so no more money talk please.

  23. ^^^ thats that one rock song from a while back...if dre really said that, thats kinda cheesy

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't dr dre ever scrapped detox all at once and start from scratch, he just added new material every time do the the new wasn't mixing with the old so this course was always cycling. So my estimate 2010-2012 (obviously had material that he was going to release in 2011, but ended pushing the project another year so he can experiment more and he still is).
If feel dr dre is confident with his new sound, and I'm 110 detox would be another classic, come in this Dr Dre!!! He is the MJ of Beats

    ReplyDelete
  25. I remember at one point he wanted the album to be a story from beginning to end, with each rappers being a different character, that was a pretty dope idea, as far as all this excitement as of late, I think we need to tone it down, at this point the album cld suck your dick and then make you a sandwich while you listen to it and you'd still be let down!

  26. Why do I feel Dre is working on a mixtape???? Meek Mill talks about laying down some lyrics for Dre on a song, they have been in the studio together recently.....I know its not for Detox mist be a mixtape........FWise

  27. For me this is proof that Detox is finished. Dre is now working on his mixtape with ti,nelly, rick ross, and meek mill so far from what we know....FWise

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mixtape is highly unlikely why would dre bother with that if detox isn't done

    ReplyDelete
  29. Dont think dre will release a mixtape although he does have loads of material. He wasnt working with rick ross he just called him, if he was working with rick ross that fat bastard would be bragging about it for weeks. I think he is working with nelly and meek mill on their respective mixtapes though, as he wants to get his name out their again before the detox release. Listned to popped off all month adn still cant get enough of it. Detox this year!!! I hope

    ReplyDelete
  30. I really doubt there's any Dre mixtape just because he's been working with a lot of different artists. It used to be a laundry list of rappers, if they were in LA and invited, would drop by where Dre was working to contribute by ghostwriting or just chill and help however they can. Dre listens to people. Who wouldn't want to sit and work with Dre during a session? It's not the same as Dre literally making tracks with these guys. I'm not a big believer in expecting a Nelly track produced by Dr. Dre in this lifetime.

Anything could happen but going by past history, it doesn't mean a mixtape is coming, it really means Dre is hungry to finish Detox and is enlisting these guys to help do it.

    1. It's for the mixtape how many times do I have to post this. ITS FOR THE MIXTAPE DETOX IS DONE 2 OF THE TRACKS GOING TO BE ON THE MIXTAPE HAVE ALREADY AIRED PRIVATELY ON RADIOS. The first is called To Pimp Or Not To Pimp ft. Snoop Dogg (Prod. By Focus) it came on couple days ago and the second track is Psycho ft. 50 Cent (Prod. By Scott Storch) which came on 2 days ago on turnitup or turnsound or whatever its called. Detox is done this blog is behind on the tweets Mel- Man has tweeted so much more and 2 others have also tweeted about Detox. Here's Mel-Man's most recent tweets now that megaupload is dead we can get #detox #Aftermath he also tweeted In Studio Me Roscoe & @drdre #Detox #Aftermath http://twitpic.com/89n8b4. Detox is done Dre's just getting the Mixtape finished and the promo and everything ready.

    2. The hell are you even talking about? These tracks you named are just leftovers, even DOC said he would be mad surprised and laugh if "Pimp or Not to Pimp" made it on Detox. It's the height of stupid that two Detox joints "leak" yet nobody can verify they even exist because nobody heard them. What the hell is that? lol. If real Detox tracks leaked, even if they were way unfinished masters, they would be making the rounds on the internet at the speed of light.

I'm not even that sure how real that Mel-Man account even is, to be honest. Has anyone credible actually verified that's really Mel-Man making those posts? Either he's jumped back on Detox after a long hiatus or someone is playing with us because it's pretty suspect if you think about it.

      Delete
    3. Can you read? I said those tracks are for the mixtape not Detox. They were aired privately on radios i'm guessing Dre wants to hear people's opinion before actually releasing them even though its only his mixtape

    4. Interestingly I just noticed Dawaun Parker tweeted him directly telling him to call his cell otherwise he was calling Mel Man's account fake. He said the picture he posted with Roscoe and Dre was "so old" and that the colour of the speakers in the studio had changed since then... He deleted the tweet about 2 minutes later... Make of that what you will.

I'm guessing Dre wants some feedback before releasing them but those tracks obviously are not for Detox you people need to read more carefully there for the mixtape.

  38. I didn't have the patience to comb over it myself, but someone on a forum said even DOC also posted he has no idea if that's even Mel-Man. Debating it is kind of pointless because it is what it is, but until there's some credible verification I'm going to assume it's a bit suspect...

It's random ass weird he'd pop up like that, hyping up Aftermath and Detox when he's been MIA from the label since 2004, you know? Plus you would think a legend like him would get a co-sign by guys like DOC, Dawaun, or anyone who could vouch for him since these are guys that would work with/know each other IRL. If it's really Mel then I want to know why he's hiding only behind Twitter and not making it more known for real he's back with Dre working on Detox. His posts are sure implying it and that's major ass news so it has me suspecting something isn't adding up. Hope I don't sound crazy.

  41. Why are people debating whether or not a twitter account is real?? Right now we are at the point where there is nothing to say. No news, and no talk of detox. But i believe that soon dre will make a statement and release a mixtape. Dre has literally hundereds of beats and a mixtape would create a big buzz!! Not telling you that it is defo coming but the locic suggests that there may be a mixtape. Dre has been working with meek mill, nelly, and T.i to get features for the mixtape. Before 2001 dre released a tape that created a lot of hype and i believe that this is the same!!

    1. why are people debating anything regarding detox.. nothing that we are getting from twitter or anything else so far this year is far from concrete. Same as it always been.. rumors and little tweets here and there. I take that back, the only thing that we know for sure is that dre is performing at coachella. coachella will be the ultimate indicator as to whether we will get detox in the first half of the year or not.

      Delete
    2. If the Twitter account was real then it would say something new, namely that Mel-Man is working on Detox and implying it's almost finished. That's something except I'm doubting it's the real thing, but it's worth pointing out since people kept citing it as evidence of this or that.

Nothing about Detox's release has ever been concrete the entire time but people still talk about this or that because we're interested. Hella people seem to have their hopes and dreams pinned on a hip-hop album, this is the blog for talking about it, so it's not a big deal if people want to pick at whatever to get some hint of what's going on.

I don't think Coachella will mean anything by itself because even if Dre and Snoop did a new song, people will scream "Detox is coming" even if that's just a throwaway track, and no follow up. It's a mistake IMO to pin Detox on Coachella because this is a Dre/Snoop set so expect the Dre/Snoop routine from Chronic, Doggystyle, and 2001. He could just be gauging reaction and excitement for the (near) future, who knows, all I know is nothing is official until it's official but it doesn't mean we can't have a conversation because Detox is going to come out eventually.

      Delete
    3. People are dillusional if they think that dre and snoop are going to drop a single at coachella, i am giving dre until the end of February and then im giving up, I have realised that no matter how long we wait dre wont live up to expectations and detox and dre will crumble. There will be a day when dre releases detox and yes i will buy the album, but checking this site day in and day out just to look for comments has driven me crazy. I pray that dre will prove me wrong and that something is on the horizen but i highly doubt it!

      Delete
    4. for sure plugin. mostly I was just warning people to not get too worked up over all this shit. we will probably never be able to predict when the album will come out until dre gives us a solid release date. and I don't mean a twitter video or some bullshit like that, but things like promos for detox with the release date on them, cd's made and lined up to be distributed in stores, and a little page on itunes that allows you to preorder the album. until then, and after this whole bullshit process, the only way we can get excited for this album without calling ourselves idiots would be to wait until all the above things listed happen first. Until then all of this is just rumors and little things that dont really matter. We will get the album when we get the album. I suggest people stop following this site unless they can handle themselves and not set themselves up so that they will get disappointed, depressed, and delusional like the guy above me has. but if you want to use the site to actually constructively discuss detox without worrying about when it will be released, then more power to ya.

No shit we all listen to other music though, I don't think anyone has locked themselves in their parents' basement spinning The Chronic and 2001 checking the internet every 2-3 hours to see if Detox has leaked or is coming. At least I hope not. We all have other shit to do, other shit to listen to, and (hopefully) real lives away from a Dr. Dre album. I'm sure it isn't even just hip-hop with us either, I listen to all sorts of shit you wouldn't take seriously as hip-hop heads but I do. I appreciate most everything musically which is why I imagine I'd appreciate Detox, if only because that may be the last album in a long ass time that redefines anything.

But man if you're listening to the bullshit like Mr. Chow says he is, then I imagine you got nothing in this world BUT Detox to come out...
