Dre performs "Still D.R.E." At LIV In Miami, Florida

The West Coast vet takes a trip down memory lane.

Dr. Dre recently performed his classic cut "Still D.R.E." while at LIV in Miami, Florida.

Dre, who had been spotted at Rick Ross' birthday party in Miami over the weekend, hopped on the mic at LIV in celebration of DJ Stevie J's birthday. He performed the cut while DJ Clue manned the turntables. Attendees at the event included Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz, Ne-Yo and more.

  1. I feel bad for Dre on this one, if i heard right
he said he was feeling the vibe of the crowd and may perform something.
Im sure he was pumped until the song played and the crowd wasnt into it as he thought it was, you can see his reaction was like he wasnt sure about it but he just quickly got it over with.

In California, everyone would have gone crazy as soon as the song dropped but since this is Miami and im sure they played YMCMB music through out the whole night( i heard)
don't know dr dre is a legend :/
    wait till detox drops :)

    2. Well, that's what he gets for only performing 13 year old songs. It's a classic song, but how long is he gonna perform only hits from the 90's?

      Drefan since 91

    1. Practicing for coachella makes sense, hopefully a up in smoke tour happens
I have a feeling this month detox news would finally be out (official)
Some random day where Dr Dre goes on FB/Twitter and announces it, just like the coachella news

  5. Sorry guys but gagsta hip hop is dying and it is up to dre to save hip hop. The signs look bad. The last thing de officially released was built to sell.Getting: eminnem (who has jumped on the young money bandwagon,)Skylar Grey (just a singer desperatly trying to make it,) and alex da kidd just spelt sell out. I am also concerned with dre working with rick ross meek mill etc. Dre may have realised that in order for him to become noticed he has to get with the in crowd.

Everyone else has jumped on the bandwagon and i expect dre to do the same. Game worked with chris brown, 50's first single from his last album was R&B influenced, and eminem is collaberating with the whole young money crew. Gangsta rap just dosnt sell anymore, that is why Bishop failed and it is why slim the mobster will fail. Even snoop the "Godfather" of the west is working with David Guetta. Everyone on this blog is dicussing the wrong things. You shouldnt be discussing when dre is going to release it, you should be discussing the actuall content.

This is wh Detox will fail!!

    1. Man, Bishop Lamont was no gangsta rap artist, while he was on Aftermath he was on real shit all the time and never pretended to be any sort of a thug like Slim. Those are two different galaxies those guys are inhabiting.

The biggest reason he eventually left was probably realizing Interscope was just not going to put up the money or faith in him because they didn't think he was marketable to a mainstream audience. Which may or may not be true, but when your big Dre-produced track "Grow Up" leaks and is literally tearing up radio all over LA and they send cease-and-desists to stop playing it for no real reason, something is amiss and Bishop is too real to sell his soul to all that bullshit. His other Dre-produced track "Hallelujah" was saying A LOT about what he saw in the music industry.

Plus, wee can't discuss the content of Detox because we don't know what it is. I don't see many of us shitting on Dre's project without having any clue what it'll sound like, who it'll feature, or what direction the music is going. It's a shame Dre has to hang around fat, phony ass clowns like Rick Ross for face time, but the truth is I'm not going to lose my shit over it because I have no idea what it means. In all honesty I don't think Dre putting in some studio time with these guys automatically means it's on Detox or intended for anything until I see it. If they're making the trip to LA for multiple sessions here and there, then you can make that assumption.

  6. As much as I hate 2 admit it I think your right 'Bb2' Dre hasnt done a decent record in years and all signs are pointing to him doing a album based around YMCMB and MMG rather than a classic westcoast album I think hes just trying to sell beats he duznt care for music anymore that part of his life is long gone its all about beats for dre now. Just think of INAD that video clip was pretty much just a long ass ad with dre and em as the background music.

  7. You guys are babies you don't know anything about the album and that's a fact. You guys don't know dre personally so fuck you

  8. I highly doubt Detox will sound like the radio shit you hear these days. I actually thought it was going to go to the more "techno" hip hop you hear on the radio or the crappy hip hop made famous by lil pain and no money records. But listening to the leaked Detox tracks is giving me hope. INAD was ok in my opinion, Kush was great even though it uses that same drum pattern every one else uses, and Popped Off is awesome. Hip Hop isn't dead, it's just in a coma. Dre will awaken it once again.

  9. I think he shld change the name of the album. and I wldnt be suprised if he does. The album title has alot to do with the direction and the feel of the album. This detox shit ain't workin for him.

  10. Lets do the math guys. I presume detox was going to come out last year. However, I think we all agree that dre nedeed to come with some harder material than INAD and kush. if dre had released detox his name may have been damaged. I don't mind waiting 15 years for another classic dre album an we should all have belief and patience.

  12. JuDwEi$eR Your straight crazy he cant change the name its become more than just a album title now its a myth and some what of an icon now, how many other albums have name dropped into songs countless times? and this album aint even out yet! In my opinion Detox is the most fitting name considering its his last album and his last 2 were called "The Chronic" and "The Chronic 2001" Can anyone else think of a better name?

  13. i dont know if anyone cares but if there is any fans of hittman out there. he tweeted me back saying that he is writing lyrics to some mel man instrumentals. pretty sure its hittmans profile becuase the real mel man recently tweeted him.

also, someone twitted hitt about detox. check out hitts twitter

  14. Really? i'm a Hittman fan without him 2001 would never have been what it was. If Dre has Hittman ghost writing that is a good thing. Detox is going to be all west coast and if Hittman is writing that will make it that much better. I wonder how Hittman sounds now if his voice has changed or if his lyrics have gotten even better since then damn it's hard to believe 2001 came out 13 years ago the album still sounds like it was made today which only makes me wonder how ahead of it's time Detox will be or will it not live up to the same test of time as 2001 has

  15. I think we need to face the facts and that is this isn't the 90's/early 2000's for that matter. That is the past and I really hope that Detox isn't another rehash of the Chronic or 2001. I hope that it involves alot of new hip hop artists just like the previous 2. That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to hear a few tracks involved with Snoop,Em,Cube,Ren,etc. These guy's are pretty much passed their prime. Nor does it mean that I am in any way a huge fan of Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, etc; Cuz I'm not. But this is what this younger generation has grown up with and they seem to like it and that is what sells just like the old N.W.A./Chronic years were with my generation. I think that Dre would be very capable of releasing something that will appealto both younger and older generations because it is alot of the younger one's who are buying up the headphones.I think it would be alright to mix things up a bit; with the right people and right sound, whatever that is I know he'll be able to pull that off with all of the abundant recorded material over the years( a double or even a 3 disc set is possible) What's cool though is my 12 year old son was over the other day and asked me to throw on some Dre. I'm 37, so Dre's work is timeless. My son really appreciates his work nd I'm sure he will be able to make something to please both the newer and older generation of fans with a mixture of different artists.

  16. I Don`t Know What..To Say...Damn :( Snoop Dogg Relasing Album...SlaughterHouse etc..But No Detox..Can Relase Detox If This Guy Realsese Albums Before :( Damn..

    1. Shut up! Both the slaughterhouse and snoop dogg albums won't be a patch on detox! Dre will come up with that next level shit while snoop will create an 11th album trying to recapture the doggystyle years, and slaughterhouse creating another bad meets evil album. Not saying the albums won't be good just dre's will be a classic!

    2. I think Dre's plan is to release more then just Detox. He is going to be working on Tha Dogg Pound album, S2C, Reincarnation, Good Kid In Mad City, Slim The Mobster's album and the Pre-Detox mixtape. These are the album's we know he's working on plus i'm sure he'll feature on a lot of mix tapes and albums.

  17. Interestingly I just noticed the date on http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?sku=649865 as April 16 around the same time as Coachella. It might mean something who knows though.

  18. Detox is not an automatic classic and its gonna be pretty fucking hard to stand up to chronic and 2001, those two albums each featured a rapper on them that rocked the game to its core, eminem and snoop, while they were at the early fresh stages of there careers.

DRE needs 2pac to come out of hiding and get on a few tracks to meet up to our expectations!

  19. Dr. Dre isn't going to put in so much thankless work, frustration, or years of trouble and endlessly spent money to put out a third LP just to plug in to any Top 20 radio YMCMB/MMG bullshit. He knows he's expected to do what he did the last two times: reinvent and set the new standard - and that isn't easy to do a third time, much less even once for anybody.

If you guys are getting it that twisted to invent reasons to hate on Dre because you accuse Detox of heading into mainstream territory for radio play, then he would've finished and put it out years ago without suffocating his name under an impossible hype for it now. It's clear as day he's been looking for cohesive perfection since day one because everyone has said the same thing consistently. It makes no sense this man, who by most people's opinion is the best to do it in the studio, with a track record of reinventing and evolving hip-hop, is taking years upon years just to put out something easy that would take less than a year to make.

INAD was shit: the video was shit and the music was shit, but that's come and gone so long ago that it should be off the radar. It isn't like he stuck with it. That's why he didn't just put it out by last year. Just Blaze has confirmed Detox has been scrapped at least a few times and obviously that's because he's not going to release it until it's absolutely over the heads of what everyone else has done in hip-hop. Some of you guys are on some bullshit going on about Detox is this or that when none of you have any clue what you're talking about. Shit on it when you hear it or have any reason to think Detox is going to sell out to YMCMB or Rick Ross because I highly doubt Dre has any intention of selling out what everyone wants which is an album that brings back the West.

  20. lets be real here, Dre hasnt dropped a hot beat since Imagine ft snoop in 2006

    1. Shit Popped Off, Detox Reference Track, Topless, Syllables etc. He's dropped a lot of dope beats. Kush isn't going to be on the album or at least I'm pretty sure it won't. My guess is he'll put it on the mixtape along with other detox cut tracks like Psycho and To Pimp Or Not To Pimp

    2. Oh and i'm not trying to get no one excited here. But i'm almost sure Detox is dropping around the time Coachella. 3 things point towards this and people i'm not a insider this is just my own theory. 1. Coachella itself which is happening between April 12-16. Hmv's date for Detox April 16th (And I know hmv always changes there date but it might mean something) 3rd. 4/20 is around the same time and it's the perfect time to drop it especially the title being Detox. 4. Detox last year was apparently supposed to come out on 4/20 but it never did. 5. Some guy on Kanyetothe who is defintely a insider as everything he has said about Detox has been true so far said that he can't talk announce something about Detox until a week before Coachella. So I don't know maybe just maybe Detox is coming possibly in April but well see

  21. Nothing that they've put out will be on it according to DOC, including Kush and INAD, so officially there still hasn't been a song we've heard that will actually be on Detox. The content is a complete secret and surprise so far which is what Dre wants and expects by the time it sees the light of day. Kush and INAD were really just leaks they put out just because but according to Dre's words, Kush was definitely included on Detox at the time in '10.

Dre has made good shit since '06, the tracks he produced for Bishop like Grow Up, Flashy, and Hallelujah were pretty damn hot. He hasn't really released much over the years being committed to Detox and I'm sure most of the beats he gave to other artists like Busta and Game since then were leftovers. If Dre barely has time to finish his own shit after a decade, I'm not confident he's putting in much work and time to craft brand-new beats for others...
