Dre possibly getting back in the DJ booth?

Before he was a platinum rapper or superproducer, Dr. Dre got his start in the 1980s as a DJ for the World Class Wrecking Crew, so when it comes to the wheels of steel, the Good Doctor knows a thing or two.

Maybe that's why Beats by Dre snagged David Guetta to help develop the company's new Beats mixr headphones, designed specifically for DJs. In fact, Guetta and the new DJ headphones have inspired Dre so much that the hip-hop luminary is considering returning to the decks.

"He's passionate about what he's doing," Dre said of Guetta. "I flew all the way to Ibiza, Spain, to check him out, and I saw the show that he put together, and I was blown away, so who better to represent our DJ headphone?"

"Who has helped DJs more in the world than David Guetta?" Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine chimed in.

Guetta's Ibiza show clearly left an impression on the Chronic producer and rapper, who saw more than just a DJ, but an artist at work. "From the beginning, just the energy that he brought and all the effects that he had," Dre recalled. "He wasn't just DJing and spinning records; he put on a show, and I took that home with me. I fell in love with the show."

It's no secret that Dre has been fine-tuning is long-awaited Detox album, but what fans may not know is that the former N.W.A producer has at least thought about returning to the DJ booth. "I've actually been talking about it a little bit; dusting my hands off and getting back in the DJ scene," he said. "We'll see what's up with that in the future."

  1. I found it funny someone sarcastically asked if Dre is gonna be working with a bunch of pop stars including David Guetta and then this comes up.

Dre could make absurd amounts of money DJ'ing anywhere but why would he really want to? He's approaching 50 and he's a world apart from the usual DJ scene which is oriented with genres that aren't hip-hop (although I've heard plenty of old school hip-hop at raves or massives). The big money is doing sets at huge festivals or massives across the world but Dre isn't doing what those guys have been doing. Then again, if Dre can finish Detox before he ends up shelving it, he can do whatever the fuck he wants.

  2. Fuck this album...all it is is an endless fucking delY train....Dre isnt into it...hes only about beats...when the fuck is this blog gonna realize that this album will never see the light of day....its ova people.

By the way, have you heard Dres new protegee slim the mobsters piss what a joke of an artist....Dre is going the wrong way....just put shitox out already to shut all the twelve year olds up........His Era is over

  3. $100 says anyone on this blog bitching about Detox never coming or how it's gonna be shit will be the first back to the blog jumping up and down for it and pretending they were loyal since the beginning.

Plus who realistically believes Dre is just gonna shelve Detox after all the money Interscope has put into production? He has more than enough joints to make 5 albums, but he's been taking his time perfecting it until it's RIGHT, not to please you, since he only gets one last chance to cement his legacy. For a perfectionist that's a big deal. Plus Interscope wouldn't let it happen, this is gonna be the big release that their shareholders are counting on for high profit margins and returns. Business is why Detox will come. Art is why it's taking forever to complete.

  4. its funny i write all these popstars and this shows up lmao...
but my point on dre the turntables is acutally not a bad idea, when u think of it he doesnt have to go to the party scenes and clubs we youngings go to, shit i would pay a ton just to watch dre spin records, i want to see footage of him working on his music, but youtube never has them :/ but if dre can get back on the turntables for fun i would love to see it
