Dre: "I Am Trying To Be #2 To Apple ... But Music Is Like Air To Me!"

The male species can be classified into three specific categories: the ass man, the boob man and the man who enjoys all spectrums of the female body without bias.

Last night, the launch of the book and art instillation CULO by Mazzucco, in collaboration with Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine and Diddy, converted every person in attendance, male and female, in to an admirer of the glorious gluteus.

The instillation featured an array of artistically tasteful, and impeccably presented, back shots from some of the best bootys in the business, including Jessica White, Stacy Keibler, Suelyn Medeiros and Fergie.

We caught up with Dr. Dre, who is no stranger to rap video rumps, at the event, where he spoke exclusively to GlobalGrind about his electronics company, his goal to be second only to Apple and of course, about his favorite culos on display.

With all of this ass on the scene it was only suiting for the doctor to be in, checking out the anatomy, solely for research we are sure.

Global Grind: Why are you here tonight and what do you think of the art work?

Dr. Dre: I think the art work is incredible! I am here representing Raphael Muzzucco, the photographer. He is a friend of mine and I am just here supporting him, that’s all it is! I have been watching his work for quite a while. I was around in the beginning when they started this project when it was just an idea. It came out incredible. I am in love with it. I am actually going to buy a few of the pieces.

Do you have your eye on any particular pieces?

Yes, there is a red piece over in the next room with the three girls laying in the bed, I love that one. It almost describes my life.

Do you recognize any of the bootys in these pictures?

Yes, I do! Quite a few of them actually.

What you have been up to lately?

I am trying to build my electronics company, Beats Electronics. We just signed a major deal with HTC and we have cell phones coming out in the next two weeks. I am involved in Chrysler; we are in cars right now. My whole thing is to take over everything with a speaker. That is what I am shooting for.

What telephone provider is going to be carrying the new phone?

The phone will be on Verizon and, like I said, it is going to be out in the next 2 weeks.

You had wild success with Beats by Dre. Do you think the phone is going to match up? Are you a little nervous?

Oh nah, I am not nervous about anything! I am trying to be number 2 to Apple, and number 2 to Apple is not a bad position to be in.

What do you have going on outside of electronics? Musically, do you have anything going on?

Absolutely. I am never going to give music up. Music is like air to me, [music] is like oxygen, so I am always doing that. As soon as I get back to Los Angeles, I am back in the studio doing my thing. I have a couple of new artists that I am excited about, Kendrick Lamar and Slim The Mobster. These are the next two artists, and these are probably my final two artists that I am going to be working with at least for the next couple of years. I am going to devote all my attention to them and make sure their sh*t comes out the way it should be. I am just having fun with life right now!

  11. You guys are idiots for taking out your frustrations of Dr. Dre, a guy who in fact owes you nothing, not even Detox, out on the guy who's been maintaining the blog you keep checking and commenting within for a long time. Is it Uzee's fault there's no Detox news or Dre is making a lot more money focusing on building up his Beats brand? I swear some of you have to be in high school and need to learn to grow up.

This other rhetoric about "forcing" Dre to release Detox is way out of whack too. I've been waiting 7 years for it, I get the frustration, but look at it the real way: he doesn't owe anybody anything, much less another original studio LP he's put immeasurable time and money into making. Whatever original shit you get from Dre is a privilege, not a right, and people should just be happy he didn't shelve it. Dre takes it seriously enough to reach out to guys like DOC, scrap it when it's not right, and takes his time to make it perfect. If he didn't care he would've long put it out by now for easy money. He obviously cares a lot about what he does in the studio and he's been dead serious about making it worth it.

Yeah he's probably much more interested building up his Beats brand and making a shit ton more money than he would selling albums since he's not touring anymore, but the guy is still working and mentoring two new talents like he did with Eminem. Just put it in perspective. Don't bitch, whine, and cry just because you think Dr. Dre somehow owes you Detox not when it's ready, but immediately, and that an almost 50-year-old man who thoroughly conquered hip-hop, has a family, and wants to do other shit to enjoy himself than slave in the studio (which he does) is not allowed to do anything but work on Detox just for you. Then you give Uzee shit for posting it. For real: GROW UP.

  14. fuck dre

this is definitely a man who does not seem the least bit interested in putting out an album...

sorry detox fans, like i told u guys over a year ago:

    DETOX IS A MYTH!

only to keep his name relevant and promote his beats electronics brand. that's it. just that simple.

and a lot of people are falling for it...

  15. (monking noises)want detox (monking noises)

  16. These whining comments ranting about "Detox is a myth!" and "Fuck Dr. Dre, we're gonna break in and leak 'em beats cuz he owes us!" is what would happen if babies could use the internet. Dre has been working on and off Detox for a long time making sure it's the best of the best, and people lose their shit and cry whenever he's caught in a magazine or video doing something other than working... as if a middle-aged family man with kids, a flourishing company, and legendary list of accomplishments isn't allowed to do anything but give YOU shit when YOU want it. This guy is already working day after day the last few years in frustrating angst to do it right with the right people helping him and you little kids still find ways to bitch about it.

    Cry more, seriously.

  17. I'm glad we don't get Detox right now. Cuz I would be afraid looking at the production credits and not seeing one track produced by Dre, not even co-produced. That would suck even more than no Detox at all. I hope Dre knows what's the reason for his lack of inspiration to produce classic hip hop tracks. That's the only way we might get Detox. If he changes his lifestyle to get the inspiration back to produce classic hip hop
again. I heard somewhere that he stopped smokin weed, and I think that might be one of the reasons for his lack of inspiration. Weed is the perfect drug for a producer, and he was smoking when he made the best album of all time, "The Chronic". And he was smokin when he produced "2001" too right? So let's hope he starts smokin again. Fuck being healthy, smoke and produce anotha classic. And stop with the steroids cuz that's not a good drug for inspiration.

    Drefan since 91
