DJ Mike 2600 – “Man, You Been Doin’ All This Dope Producin’” (Official Dre Day Mix)

With Dre Day – a/k/a Dr. Dre’s birthday – tomorrow, February 18th - having creeped up on us this year with no concrete plans (other than perhaps rollin’ in our 6-4), we return to the classics. In this case, Burlesque’s Mike 2600′s official Dre Day mix from last year, “Man, You Been Doin’ All This Dope Producin’” (christened as after the classic Ren/Dre exchange from N.W.A’s “Express Yourself”). Lotta Andre Young-produced essentials included, of course, but plenty of surprises as well, including a gang o’ sample source musical tangents that may pleasantly surprise some of y’all expecting strictly that gangsta glare. It’s funky enough. Hell, yeah. Listen below or download for free.

  4. Dope mix! Will Dre ever get the inspiration back to produce classic tracks again, or is his era over for good?

  5. Yes ! He said it in the "Express Yourself" Remix back in the N.W.A. days.

  6. I caught Xxplosive on the mix and thought the exact thing, Drefan. That's probably my favorite joint on 2001 and it had my head pulled both ways, thinking on one hand, "Dre can't come close to making classics like this again" to "if he can make something this dope then, he has to have songs even better now".

You can never relive the best eras of music or one's career output, but with Dre and Detox, I don't even want that, I've been hoping this new album give us something completely new, different, and better. He knows he's gotta do that too.

  7. Dope mix cheers uzze! I have a theory so don't believe that this is true. I believe that dre is nearly finished detox. I believe that he had all the music and is going around these rappers to get lyrics. He has recently worked with Tito Lopez. Tito Lopez is underground at the moment and he confirmed that he was working for dre. I believe that he along with meek mill, nelly, ti, rick Ross, Joel Ortiz, etc. Are laying down lyrics for detox. This also could be the reason why dre was so active in January. Remember what the doc said "soon we might all be able to celebrate!!!

  11. What is the earliest date Detox could be on store shelves by?

  12. Chris, I'd say best case scenario April 20. Worst case December. If not then, never

too much hype with that OLD just blaze video

  13. I agree with you but to me it would just make sense , Coachella right around there... I mean its wishful thinking... But if we have NO word of detox/a single/word of a single or any concrete news and april comes and goes, i'd lose a lot of hope. I'm honestly expecting a single in April. But then again... Its the same old story with detox.. Dont expect anything. And as far as the just blaze video i wasnt even referring to it, but I just felt april is honestly best case scenario and the 20th seems like it would fit the theme of a single or release date or something. Long time observer of fhis blog, just recently started posting because i really feel like this is the year and these next 3 months have to be make or break.

  15. I deffo believe that this is the quite before the storm. This month there has been hardly any new relating dre other than obie trice saying that he believes that detox is musically ready. Throughout the time I have been following detox i have noticed that there is a flow of dre news wether it be beats promotion or producera saying it is nearly ready. This month there has been absolutely no news, and ibelive that no news is the best kind of news when detox is involved!

    ReplyDelete
  16. ^^u are only fooling yourself if you think detox is going to be released in a month and that the lack of news (or quiet before the storm"- as u call it lol)is proof of this...

    stop dreaming

    ReplyDelete
  17. To say there's no news is good news with Detox is just phenomenally wrong, we went through the entire year of 2011 with nothing and ended up with nothing. It's like saying I can prove 9/11 was a coverup and I have no evidence of it which proves it was a successful coverup. Quiet before the storm, my ass, it means he's just working on it or doing something else which is the same story since 2002. If it was entirely finished and through final mixing, Dre would be out and about doing things to get people talking, he knows everyone knows what Detox is by now and the planet is hanging on the question if it will ever come out.

The big problem is we've never had any real, official Detox "news", and it's meaningless until something official from Interscope and Dre's mouth which hasn't happened. To me the album is 100% done or it's 0% done, I don't care who says this or that about it anymore because nobody has ever said something about Detox that proved to be true. Hate to be negative but that's real.

  18. Been off this blog for about a year now and i dont believe wht i am reading. This blog is basically like a show in the UK called question time. It is basically a show where fat politicians debate about politics.

There are two types of people on this blog. Some of you on here are so possesed with dre and have constant hope. While others are bland and drool on for paragraphs, (Deano and plugin) about how and when detox is dropping.

I am a huge dre fan and want detox to come out as much as anoyone else on here but really. Its been eleven years now and still nothing. Soo much time and effort has been put into the project and still dre is not satified and until he is we wont hear nothing. People on hear need to realise that there are other genres of music out there. Hip hop is literally dead at the moment. Just go and listen to some rock, or electronic music.

If dre dosnt drop some hot shit then somebody else will and that is a fact!

    1. Nah man i dont drag on i just predict what may happen by what has happened previously. However, i do agree with you. If dre dosnt drop anything then somebody else will.

The dude talking about the calm before the storm is dilusional. Dre is lazy, that is one of the reasons why he hasnt dropped detox. he spends days tweaking sounds and beats. However, he compensates this by creating sick music. A lot of people dont know that dre dosnt entirely produce everything. Take whats the difference on 2001. That was done by mel man, however, people still think that dre produced it. he same can be said with INAD. That track scares me cos it is horrible and was mean to be the first real detox track.

I do agree with you about some fans being dilusional and stary eyed about detox. Dre wont drop anything in April, he may have said something last year but his people were quick to dismiss that. One of my mates is like this and he actually thinks that dre intended for the leaks to come out. Pathetic! People like that need to take a break for listenning to the same "chronic" and "2001" album and start listening to some other tracks.

  19. I think Dr. Dre should put The Chronic album back on iTunes. Maybe he will put it back on there when Detox comes out so the promotion of it would be crazy.

  20. Wouldn't that suck if DeToX was finally given a release date, but then Jesus came back the day before in the rapture...Id probably still get to hear it

  21. We do listen to other genres of music and other artists beyond Dr. Dre, there's plenty of good shit going around from all kinds of artists each of us like, so it isn't like we're all clutching ourselves checking for a Detox date every hour every day. Anyone into Detox is into music in general, we don't need lectures to listen to other shit, fuck is that about.

If Dre doesn't drop anything now, it won't matter, people will still wait for it because his production style is on his own level and unmatched. Everyone else can drop "hot" Top 40 radio shit until the end of time, nothing is replacing Dre or the expectations that hang on Detox. Where did you come up with this weird ass idea that Dre is in a race to drop "hot shit" before someone else does? My head hurts making sense of this.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I bet some people would do what they can to get a listen before death or whatever..thats if there's actually going tobe a rapture.

  23. I wouldn't be surprise if dre pulled a April fools on us, since coachella is happening in the same month. Like there is a rumored single like under pressure. Remember that shit came out of no where

    ReplyDelete
  24. Under Pressure didn't really come out of nowhere, Dre and Iovine were doing some Beats promo event at the Red Sox baseball stadium and said that's the new single coming, then later promised Detox for 2011. I'm hazy about the timeline after that, all I remember is he promised Under Pressure in a few weeks, then a few weeks became months, and then someone just finally leaked it and the joint was still way unfinished and nobody liked it.

Coachella is happening, Dre and Snoop will do their big headlining Chronic/Doggystyle/2001 nostalgia set, get the buzz going, and maybe just maybe they'll drop a new song. I think they're doing two sets a week apart so he'll have two chances but I think the logical thing would be for Dre to use the last set to announce something official. I'll take that over a performance of a "new" (probably throwaway) joint that will never be put out officially and then we'll be back where we started with no dates, no singles, and no news.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Nah plugin you are wrong. I don't see anything detox related coming out until after slim the mobsters joint is out. Apparently he has nearly finished his album and I doubt detox Will be out before.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah maybe but I'm not on board believing Slim's LP is seeing the light of day anytime soon. He needs the boost from Detox to get where he needs to be to move units because as far as I see, he has a pretty low buzz and his mixtape didn't do much even with all the promotion, features, and putting out more than half the tracks. If he put out The Movie on his own right now, how far would it get? And how much further would it have gotten with the push from being on Detox? I compare his situation to Bishop's Reformation LP and Slim didn't have half the recognition, mixtape buzz, or hype as Bishop. I guess we'll see what happens but then again, Slim is on Aftermath, and Aftermath only pushes out Em and 50 albums only because they move units and have huge hype.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dr. Dre should be locked in a studio with The D.O.C., Eminem and Snoop Dogg and not let out until Detox is finished! lol. He couldn't go wrong with assistance from those three.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Amen to that :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. There is fuck all dre news at the moment. He must be working on it like he has the past 11 years. I disagree with plugin. I think that slim the mobsters album will definetly come out this year. This will give dre another excuse about detox. I can just imagine him now saying "I had to take six months out on slims album, then get back into it". This shit is really pissing me off. He just finds excuse after excuse just to delay the album. I am sure that he is getting bored of working on the project and as he has said in xxl he sometimes feels he is doing it out of obligation. Maybe he should have taken a short break???
