Dre Squeezes Ice Cube Into Detox

West Coast rap mogul Dr. Dre has reserved a guest slot for former N.W.A. group member Ice Cube on his long-awaited Detox album.

Cube recently said he hoped to also get Dre to produce on his upcoming I Am The West album as well.

"Dre is a master. What's cool about working with Dre is he stays the same. Everyone else change and trip, but I remember working with Dre back when we just in the garage. Just the two of us. And he works the same way. Don't come up with an empty palette, bring a lot of ideas to the plate...He's making a great record. I'm on it. I'm proud to be, I can't wait to get back to L.A. to get back in the studio with him. I'm trying to get a few tracks for my record I Am The West that's coming out in July."

50 Cent thinks Dre should hurry and release album

50 Cent thinks Dr. Dre should hurry up and “put an album out already”.

50 is currently working on his fifth studio album, which he may release later this year. He is yet to settle on a date to make it available as he has written two different records, and is unsure which he wants go with.

The rapper doesn’t understand why other people in the industry don’t work like he does. He is a fan of legendary rapper Dre’s work, but finds it unbelievable he hasn’t released a solo album since 1999. Dre’s new record Detox is rumoured to be planned for release later this year.

“You listen to things in Dre's studio and you think, 'What the hell's the matter with him?' I mean, the beat box is right there. Just press the button and do it! But he's up against all the success he's had in the past,” 50 explained. “He wants to make something that will top all that. That's tough. I feel the same way, but because I'm out and about, I can move faster. I'm more in the scene. Dre, man, you never see him. He's not a homebody, he's a studiobody. He's always in there working. But you listen to the stuff and you're like, man, you got it. Put it out already.”

50 – real name Curtis Jackson - is proud of his work ethic, and of all the records that bear his name. He plans to continue working as hard as he previously has, insisting it isn’t difficult as it’s so enjoyable.

“I've stayed on schedule. I've released an album every other year consistently, with three albums in-between by people I like,” he explained to the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper. “People I know make records whenever they're inspired to. They get out of bed when they feel like it. My process is different. I don't want to wait around. I want to give you something, right now.”

"Under pressure" could be released next month.

Will we be able to get our hands on Detox this year? Dr. Dre provided the latest update on when his long-delayed opus will finally arrive in stores.

“The song with Jay-Z should be out next month. We’ll see how that goes,” the Doc told Terrence and Rocsi on Wednesday’s “106 & Park.” The first single, “Under Pressure,” features Jay-Z and production from Scott Storch.

As for the album, Dre gave us a reason to want a short summer. “Hopefully at the beginning of fall,” he revealed.

Radio interview-what was discussed?

On Monday Planet Rap's Fred had interviewed Dre and Jimmy Lovin on Skyrock.

OK so the interview did happen with Dre and Jimmy Iovine.  It was in French language and a translated transcript isn't released yet.  Below is following information we managed to extract from the radio interview.

Apart from the discussion of the 'Beat' headphones, their history together and digital music distribution and changes in the industry, a little info on the delayed Detox single was discussed.

The first single may not be 'Under Pressure' anymore, whichever it is it will supposedly be released this summer.  The Detox album is still on schedule to be released this year.

Jimmy said that they didn't want to put the new Dre single and Eminem's first single to clash with each other in terms of sales and thats why 'Under Pressure' is delayed.

Rappers Spice One, Felicia “Snoop” Pearson, Bronx Style Bob, producer Domino and others have teamed to pay tribute to Dr Dre on a new album. The release, titled The Chronic 2011: A Millennium Tribute to the Songs of Dr. Dre, features a variety of rappers remaking songs from Dr. Dre’s entire production catalog. Spice 1 remakes “We Want Eazy,” while Felicia “Snoop” Pearson remakes Snoop Dogg’s “Gin & Juice.” The album is slated to be released this fall on CD and vinyl. Under pressure isnt released yet - Confused - what now?

I'm trying to think of a good question in relation to Dre or Detox or both.

Most fans are confused as to why the 'under pressure' track isn't released yet and if Detox will really be released this year.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can recommend any general/open questions, which create good discussions here.  Keep this blog going and active.
