Kendrick Lamar: Dre delayed Detox for good kid, m.A.A.d city

50 Cent has already explained his views on Dr. Dre’s long delayed ‘Detox’ saying that the Good Doctor may have lost interesting in the project, but now Kendrick Lamar has taken the blame for the album’s push back. According to Lamar, Dre has simply been focused on his recently released ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city.’ Lamar explained that Dre immediately took an interest in his music before adding that the ‘Detox’ includes some incredible tracks. “‘Detox’ got pushed to the back just because my album, Dre really found interest in my music. Wanted me to go forward and push that immediately. That’s a great thing. I’ve heard the records on ‘Detox,’ they’re insane, and the opportunity to be on that is a privilege and an honor,” Lamar told Puna.nl.

50 Cent previously revealed that he didn’t think Dre was devoted to finishing off ‘Detox’ and suggested that the album could be released as an EP. “I don’t know if [Dr. Dre]‘s even excited to do [‘Detox] now. He’s successful with Jimmy [Iovine] with Beats [Headphones], so I’m not sure if he’s pressed [to release it]. I know that when I did [see him] last when I was in Los Angeles, he was actually in the studio working on something else,” said Fif.

Lamar, however, added that with the release of his album he’ll have a chance to relax and told the Puna what he’s planning for his visit to Holland, “I’m going to get in some sight-seeing, didn’t get to sight-see that much last time,” said Lamar.

  4. This is bullshit. Dre said he delayed Detox in 2005 because of The Game's album, then again in 2006 because of Busta's album, then AGAIN in 2009 because of Eminem and 50s albums, and then NOW with Kendrick's album. If anyone is dumb enough to believe this, I feel sorry for them. I'd love to believe it, but I agree with 50, I don't think Dre has the motivation anymore to complete Detox now that he's selling his headphones.

  6. I just want to say that Kendrick's new album is amazing. Finally, an Aftermath release that is worthy. This album feels like a movie. Even though there were no Dre produced tracks this album was heavily influenced by him. This album feels like the Boyz in Tha Hood film and has that feel. As for Kendrick's remarks on the delay, It could be true but we will never really know. I'm not going to believe anything until I have that album in my hand. Either Kendrick's tellin the truth about Dre's album or he is as big as a liar as all the other artist's who have made claims. Today's rap artist's need to take note; this is how an album should be done. The question is does Dre have what it take's to out due his apprentice. I seriously think that this is the best Aftermath release since 2001. Definitely classic

  7. I am going to say something that a lot of people will probably disagree with. The first track on GKMC "sounds" to me like a Detox track. Lets remember Detox has a long list of beatmakers/producers, Dre tweeked them, added his sounds, and mixed them. It's not produced by dre (like "It could've been you" or "kush"), but it is mixed by him. IMO it's a detox track given to kendrick. he made it his own, which is why it doesn't sound like a signature dre track, but it sounds dre-heavy and it could've been a great intro beat for detox. i also think the second beat sounds like something detox throwaway song.

  8. Not only those two. The second half of m.a.a.d city also sounds like a detox track! dre may has not produced one song but he is the exec. producer . and i hear the refinement und perfection in every track. he definitely did some work. it's a damn good album. gives hip hop some hope!

  10. Not a bad album at all - maybe a classic from the structure and Kendrick's rapping style.
Not a club banger, more of a relaxed, forcing you to lyrics type of album; but I said it before - Kendrick is not hard core.
