Kendrick Lamar states Detox is done

Dre's third solo album, Detox, is practically a myth-in-process at this point. Updates on the record have been announced sparsely over the past few years, but now a new voice has shared his opinion on Dre's long-awaited project. Appearing on Power 105.1's

He also announced that he "did some work" for the album. In the interview,

  1. One thing that make me think Its possible is that, look men, dre is maybe, and i hope Its true, keeping his best production for him, because 90% featuring he did last few years the beats were not made by him. Manthor

  3. I'd like to believe it, but I just can't. How many times has this been said before? Exactly. I think Dre is getting closer to releasing it though because Kendrick's album is dropping, 50's album is dropping, and Eminem is working on an album. Dre's also been getting his name back out on the streets with all his features and production (New Day, Louis XIII). Depending on the sales of K.Dot's and 50's albums, I think Dre may release it along with Em's album. Hopefully...

  4. Detox is done when it's on shelves. Dre can't take a backward step then.

  5. I remember when I first heard that claim (Detox is done) back in early 2005. Being a composer, I zealously braced myself for an entirely new level of hip hop to arise. Something new to aspire to. Almost 8 years later, I'm here, posting hollow comments on a site dedicated to what now seems like a myth.

Honestly, Dre should drop every project that ever had potential placement on Detox. Give us a 10 disc compilation with 10-12 tracks of the best work of that year on each disc. I guarantee Dre could provide 100-120 songs created over the past decade that are better than the leading hits of those years. He throws away Gold because it's not Platinum.

$100 comp or each song available as an MP3 download... you can't beat that. I'd drop $100 no questions asked. People would be digging through the couch for change to get their hands on as many songs as they could if they didn't have $100 to drop at one time.

Dre would take over the goddamn world of music.

  6. People who want to know how Detox sounds like, just listen to the songs that were supposed to be on it but were leaked or given to another artist! Then you will see that there are some certain "clues"...
    - Dre has got a lot of help from other producers (Just Blaze, DJ Khalil, Scott Storch...)
    - Sly and Kobe have contributed with hooks and/or background vocals
    - Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, T.I. will be featured on Detox
    - Dr.Dre continues to rap about respect and honour
