A few weeks ago during a short trip to Chicago, Kendrick Lamar and fellow Top Dawg Ent. emcee Schoolboy Q chopped it up with Gowhere Hip Hop‘s GY312 where the gentlemen discussed K.Dot’s rumoured mixtape project with renowned producer 9th Wonder, the chemistry between the two Top Dawg Ent. emcees and Kendrick’s involvement on Dr. Dre‘s Detox. During their brief discussion about involvement on Detox, the Compton proud emcee, who’s parents originate from Chicago, gave oft delayed longplayer a 12 out of 10 rating as well as stating that the best guest collaboration on the LP will feature himself.

I HEAR YA KENDRICK ;YOU WOULDNT SHIT ON THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewould you jus chill lol damn, i wonder how old are you? must some teenager who knows nothing about dr.dre and jus jumping on the wagon
ReplyDeleteIF ITS A CLASSIC OR INCREDIBLE AS KENDRICK SAYS;THEN WHATS WITH ALL THE DELAYS?
ReplyDeleteWHAT WE NOW KNOW FACTS ABOUT DETOX IS: ITS NOT PRODUCED BY DR DRE ;HE MAY HAVE 1 OR 2 SONGS BUT THATS IT;ITS NOT DETOX ANYMORE ;THE WAY HE WANTED IT TO BE;
first of all, stop typing in all caps.. nobody respects anything anyone says when it is in all caps it makes you seem like an immature little 12 year old. Second you don't know that the album is not produced by dre, we have only heard about 2 songs and everything else everyone has said can only be considered as rumors because in the end dre has the final say and things can change. I dont get what you are saying when you say its not detox anymore for all we know dre still has control over the project and the content that goes into it. I agree you dont know anything about dr. dre or how he produces his stuff.
ReplyDeleteWell, to be fair, I can't think of any track or leak from/for Detox that Dre has actually produced. Maybe "Ship Popped Off" (my guess) but I don't really know. Topless, Kush, INAD, Under Pressure, and others were done by Khalil, Storch, or whomever respectively. It's no secret that every notable producer on the planet has put in submissions to Dre for Detox over the years and veteran names like Nottz or Just Blaze have openly talked about it. So it's kind of a shock to people excited for Detox to learn Dre himself hasn't actually produced any or just about all of these records leaving them to wonder why the fuck he doesn't even produce his own album? I can see why people get frustrated at that. It almost feels like Dr. Dre's Detox will have less Dre-produced tracks on it than Busta's Big Bang or any Em album which is bullshit. They know Dre is the best producer alive, so why is everyone else producing his album?
ReplyDeleteWhat you enlighten these people with is they should realize Dre has the final say and final authority on all those submissions and meticulously tweaks and builds on them until his ears hear perfection. Dre didn't produce Kush but Khalil elaborated how his own mix of it differed from Dre's mix and that Dre's was obviously superior. That's just an example. However records like INAD by Alex are odd examples, I really don't dig the song at all, but it's really an Eminem song and who's to say it'll end up on Detox now. But I do know Dre commissioned that song from Alex since he's affiliated with Em. Whatever. Point is if guys produce tracks to send to Dre for Detox, Dre is going to be very picky and if he does pick something, he's going to make it however he pleases per his own taste and expectations. He doesn't just take others' productions and put it on his album like a compilation.
Dre's production style really isn't traditional, people complaining should understand Dre's talent never really was sitting in the studio making beats for artists' whole albums. Dre's talent is having an ear for perfection and bringing alive an artist's best talents and qualities through his dictating and music. Rappers and artists who work with Dre will tell you his studio sessions are grueling because he is a perfectionist and demands it. He'll make people sing or rap the same line 200+ times until you get it right. His other talent is building off others' contributions and ideas until he gets what he wants. But you know, the regular person usually can't hear much of a difference between Bach and other classical composers, but those who understand see a whole gap of difference between good and the greatest. Dre's work is really about understanding why his beats and production shines, and it goes beyond what kind of beat it is. Dre has the talent of taking material and turning it from good to the best. It isn't making the best from scratch. Make of it what you will.
WE KNOW THAT HE HAS A LIST OF HUNDRED PRODUCERS;SO TO THINK THAT HE IS GOING TO PRODUCE THE ENTIRE ALBUM ON HIS OWN IS FANTASY;ITS NOT DETOX BECAUSE ;HE IS NOT DETOXING ANYMORE;LIKE GIVE IN US THE BEST HE CAN ON THIS ALBUM ;HE IS GONNA LET OTHER PRODUCERS DO IT FOR HIM; I TYPE THAT WAY SO I CAN READ; I CANT SEE WELL WHEN ITS SMALL LETTER I WEAR GLASSES VERY BAD VISION;AND NO IM NOT 12
