Dre will rap on Game's R.E.D. album

For Game, the fourth time's the charm. The former G-Unit rapper has high hopes for album #4, The R.E.D. Album, which is set to be released August 23. While a Game album is notable in its own right, the Compton, California, MC is particularly excited now that he has reunited with mentor Dr. Dre and snagged Pharrell to help oversee the production as well.

"This album is the most incredible album of my career," Game said to MTV News from the set of his "Pot of Gold" video shoot last week. "First, I'm back with Dr. Dre, which is a bonus and dope for me. Second, executive-produced by Pharrell, co-executive-produced by myself and Mars."

There is also production from Cool & Dre, Hit-Boy, Maestro and Lex Luger and features ranging from Nelly Furtado to Lil Wayne to Busta Rhymes. "And Dre's rapping on the album," Game revealed.

Dre, who oversaw Game's debut, The Documentary, has played a limited role in the rapper's career since Game's fallout with 50 Cent, who is also signed to Dre's Aftermath imprint. Since then, the West Coast production icon hasn't lent beats or his vocals to any of Game's subsequent albums.

In 2009, studio pictures of Dr. Dre, Game and Snoop surfaced, proving that the two were back to work in some capacity. Game wouldn't confirm whether Dre provided a full verse or a hook. When asked, he just blurted out the album's release date: "August 29."

  4. ya just like detox was after relapse, before the before i self destruct album the last half of 2010, then most likely set for a February release, then set for an April 20th release, then a July 26th release. Things change get with the program.

  6. i think dr dre has become the most rediculous rapper , producer of the decade because of the rediculously delayed detox

  7. Let me start off by saying I couldnt be more dissapointed in how Dr Dre has handled all of this...This album has seen countless delays over the past 5-10 years and only until recently have we been given anyhope as to getting a release date. I mean, didnt dre say that this thing was almost finished at the end of last year and that at the very latest it would be out by the spring? I dont understand the logic...Is the record scrapped again and being started from scratch? There simply is no reasonable explanation as to why it is taking this long....No album could or ever will live up to this hype. Chronic and 2001 were great but were not perfect....and they were completed in a couple of years time. The sad thing is is that look at all of you fans, me included who have waited patiently throughout the years and have continued to be shit on time and time again...It is never going to live up to our expectations so why wait? I have followed this blog for a long time and have seen numerous people with great insight fall of the map due to being tired of waiting and or just flat out being sick of the way Dre has handled this whole process....the crazy thing about it is there is no finish line in sight...r u kidding me? We are almost thru another year and were not going to see the album's light of day again....thats just unbeleivable to me....with that being said people continue to wait..that is mind boggling to me....to what do you people really owe this guy? Do you really have no lives and this is the only thing that you have going for you? I cant believe the loyalty to someone who has basically given you nothing but lies in the last 10 years. And yes I should know...I know how you feel...I have been there from the beginning and followed this whole guys career but enough is enough...Uzee kept me in the game last year saying not to give up hope but seriously this process is never going to come to fruition...To each is own I guess but I simply cannot do this anymore...I am fully convinced that this album will never materialize and that if by the grace of God it does, it will never live up to the hype. With that being said, good luck in each of your endevors and hope that each of you really take a long look at this post and ask yourselves the same questions....I can't do this anymore and for the first time in along time, I dont want to....It's time to move on.

Thanks for all of the years of insight Uzee it's been a great ride, but unfortunately, one that seems like it will never end. Hopefully i am wrong....and I do hope that one day something emerges from this guy that you could call an album to atleast satisfy the people that have waited so patiently...but i have my reservations.

Peace and continued success to you and your blog..

    JMac

  9. great point anonymous! What slim the mobster says is news and that's a way for you to break your own stories by quoting twitter which is the press release of choice in 2011. UUUUUZZZZZe can't figure that out so this blog will always be recycled google stories and totally worthless

  10. Waiting 12 Years For Detox8 July 2011 at 09:47

Well Said JMac, i think i'm actually feeling the same and i thought i never would. Part of me has always believed in dre and his music but when does the time come when you say enough is enough. The answer to that is now, it seems i have waited my whole life for this album and we are nowhere near closer to it even after TWO music videos I have done nothing but hype this album up in my own mind and to my fellow hip-hop fans when all they have done is laugh and say its never coming and i'm afraid to say thay'm thinking the same thing now, Detox is never coming out Dre says that the reason for the delay is beacuse he has benn working on other projects but we never see those either. The wait for detox would not semm so bad if we had a shitload of Dr. Dre produced albums to tide us over, but the fact is apart from a couple of things here and there Dre hasn't done shit since 2005 and the whole thing is now become a joke.

When Dre appeared on the front of XXL promising Detox by the first quarter of 2011 i really thought the time had come but we are now entering the third quarter and it doesn't look ike it is coming this year. I really want to believe it's round the corner but what gives me hope when all these years iv'e been let down

As for the Game's album, Dre will more than likely take his verse off the album at the last minute like he did with Game's first LP on the track called Where I'm From

Stat Quo once said that Aftermath Records is the saddest story ever told and i couldn't agree more.

  11. I DONT THINK RED ALBUM IS COMING OUT I DOUBT ANY ALBUM WITH DRE INVOLVEMENT WILL EVER COME OUT;LOOK AT BISHOP LAMONT RAKIM ; SLIM THE MOBSTER AND SO ON ; THE ONLY ALBUMS THAT CAMEOUT FROM AFTERMATH; DRES INVOLVMENT WAS MINIMAL;IE EMINEM ALL HIS ALBUMS EXEPT RELAPSE; 50 CENT ALBUMS ALL OF THEM WERE WITHOUT DRE HEAVY PRESENSE EXCEPT GRDT ; EVEN THE GAMES ALBUMS THE DOCUMENTARY; WOULD HAVE BENN DELAYED IF DRE WAS ALL OVER IT; THANK GOD HE HAD MINIMUM INPUT

  12. J mac I also understand how you feel I've been patiently waiting for this album to drop for a few years. The reason why I am still holding up hope for Detox is because I know that it would be classic if it ever gets released. Year after year hip Hop music is getting worse and I would just like to have something descent and new to listen to. Dre is that good there is no doubt about that I feel ya though who knows what the hell is going on at Aftermath but something is not right. One album a year The industry is pretty fucked up. It was never like this during the 80s and 90s Artists were putting out records 1- every 2 years . The game has changed. I am just hoping for one last Hip Hop Gem I'm still not giving up hope on Detox I really believe it will get done before the years Until then I will continue to go digging in the crates. We have lives this is just a hobby We are here because we love Dre's music. Who knows maybe He is not responsible for this shit. I think you should stay on the site if any kind of descent news piece or leak comes out you seem to give good insight and know what you are talking about UZEE since this is your blog and Im taking the time out to read and comment it would be nice if you could give your own opinion and insight on every post Still enjoying your blog the name of it sure as hell speaks for itself PEACE OUT ARTMAN

  13. Dr. dre produced majority of Busta rhymes big bang in 2006 along with the majority of Jay-z kingdom come, 2007 50 cent curtis, reakwon album, before i self destruct, all of relapse, snoopdog bluecarpet treatment and executive produced eminem recovery and producing so bad and ryderz

  14. It was because of 50 that The Documentary was finished and put out, otherwise Dre stopped giving a shit and would've let Game languish in Aftermath purgatory just like Bishop ended up doing before he bounced. Bishop got to take the 700 Dre-produced masters with him but I have no idea where the fuck his album went... honestly I'm more hyped about that than Detox. Who knows what's really happening behind the scenes.

There's no Detox in sight so I've been just assuming Dre scrapped again and he's just being really, really picky about how to finish it. That's inevitable if you're someone like Dre that leans on everyone else to do the production and lyrics yet he's the pickiest motherfucker in the world when it comes to what he wants. Shit is stupid. He should just scrap it and cut his losses and at least most people will buy his bullshit that it was so perfect and enormous that his ideas just couldn't be put into any tangible existence.

  16. People need to understand when you give credit to Dre "producing" Big Bang or Snoop's Blue Carpet Treatment or whatever, is Dre actually creating the beats and tracks on the album? Is he that invested in it? He may act as executive producer and oversee the material given to him and make suggestions/tweak things but that's probably it. Other people are making those beats and producing those records. That's why those albums aren't classics. Plus Em's last few albums are lame as shit, how am I supposed to put faith into Dre delivering on Detox? Explain that.

I gave up on projecting my hopes and dreams into Detox being this classic because I have no rational reason to do that. I can't understand how some of you can keep it up when the tracks we have gotten are mediocre. Kush was kind of dope IMO but INAD and Die Hard are lame compared to expectations. Dre has been making records for Detox since what, 2002 or 2003, off and on, and that's all we get? We never get to actually enjoy any of the hundreds, maybe thousands of records he's made for Detox. In all honesty, Dre barely puts out shit, and if anything I'm extremely surprised Game's album is going to see the light of day before Detox especially since Bishop's Reformation was contractually obligated to only be put out after Detox. It'll only have one track by Dre, maybe two at the very most, and I'm supposed to feel grateful? Truth is Dre may be working everyday but we just have to believe that because we sure don't get much to work with as fans. It's really dumb. I check this blog for the comments sometimes but I stopped being hyped for Detox after February came and went with nothing. Where's the Whoo Kid mixtape? Where's the word from Dre or Interscope, shit where are even the rumors? Where's Slim's War Music mixtape? It's all a bunch of bullshit that people keep falling for and rationalizing being suckers by telling themselves it'll all be worth it when Detox comes out because it'll be musical perfection. The only proof of Detox I've seen shows Dre has no focus which is why he keeps scrapping it over and over, can't make the album he wants, and the tracks he has settled on just aren't that good. Why keep putting your head in the sand? It's the fucking longest joke in hip-hop.

  17. shit... well now what? I cant believe this has happened. What are we doing? We have just been hanging on dre's every word and everyone else's word that has anything to do with detox for the last 2 or 3 years... and for what???! we get nothing... not an update, not a reason for the delay, not any sort of single or piece of music to hold us over... what the fuck is going on?! this is my nightmare!!! Dre.. I know you make awesome music.. but for some fans, like me.. I have been waiting for the day when this all comes together and this album comes out and we will see some vintage dre.. with the singles that you have released you have only given me half hope and half speculation because INAD doesnt sound like you but kush and die hard sounds great. Your lead single sounds like pop new eminem recovery stuff and since then we have only had broken promises and old dre tracks to keep us from going insane. God damn i dont even know what i want from you anymore. If I wanted you to rush and release the album I would be afraid that it would not live up to my expectations... but if you were to wait and relase it after you feel it is ready after another year or so I think i might go insane... DR. DRE GOD DAMMIT FIX THIS SHIT. JUST MAKE IT AN AUTHENTIC RAP ALBUM AND YOUR NAME WILL CARRY THE REST.. THATS ALL WE WANT GOD DAMMIT IF YOU JUST STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF AND NOT GO FOR SALES YOU WILL NOT RECIEVE CRITICISM FROM ANYONE. SNOOP SOLD 0UT DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE TO ALSO. YOU HAVE ENOUGH MONEY YOU CAN DO WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT... DO WHATEVER YOU WANT SHIT. AFTERMATH WAS BUILT BY FANS WHO WANT GOOD QUALITY RAP... GIVE YOUR FANS WHAT THEY DESERVE.. YOU DONT HAVE TO INNOVATE ANYTHING JUST GIVE THE FANS THAT HAVE MADE YOU WHAT THEY WANT...

  18. i am tired of this whole speculation crap kanye west has his ghost producers aswell like no id, pharrel had chad, jd also. Dr. Dre doesnt have to prove nothing this comes from the mouth of eazy, ice, cube snoop he made classic albums in the 80's, early 90's late 90's and between 2000- 2005, over 25 years in the game. he just feel that nowadays he has to have a hit single first which i believe is a complete error dre doesnt sell singles he sells album.plus i am sure he made those beats for busta big bang, jaz-z kingdom come, snoop bluecarpet treatment those 4 tracks on before i self destruct and relapse i got faith, this guy produced the doc album, straight outta compton, eazy duz it, jj fad, chronic, doggysttyle, 2 pacs biggest hit ever california love, marshall mathers lp so many albums they said the same crap about 2001 before it came out

  22. It's the true fans that have been the ones hyping up Detox, waiting patiently, investing their faith in Dre, and doing it for years like I have. If you think I'm not a fan because I or someone else criticizes the way he has handled Detox, then you're the one that should excuse themselves. Dre has fumbled, balked, and plain fucked up this album's release and it's become the longest joke in hip-hop. We're what, 7-8 years later, and it's still nowhere in sight after two singles from months ago, three commercials with snippets, and Detox is STILL nowhere closer than it was two years ago? I never believed we would be going into the 4th quarter of 2011 with literally nothing. I don't expect perfection, I'm not going to shit on Dre for not blowing my mind with every track, it's just going to be an album nowhere near the hype but hopefully a still dope one true to what Dre does best. All I want is one more classic WC album from Dre. I don't care if half the songs are finished versions of leaks like "Shit Popped Off" or whatever, but I do wish Dre gave a shit about his fans by being real with us.

I'm from LA and I live in Oakland now, Dre is an icon everywhere, and all I've been hearing about him from everyone there or here is putting Dre down. He's a joke and he did it to himself. He's approaching 50 YEARS OLD, sitting on his ass in the studio, struggling how to make another record about smoking weed for a decade. It's absurd if you think about it. Detox isn't the fucking 2011 New Testament from Christ, it's a hip-hop album, and just about everyone I know who are Dre fans say PUT IT OUT ALREADY FUCK. He doesn't even produce the shit! I can't name one record or leak he did that wasn't done by someone else. That's just real.
