Detox July 26th????

Though release dates have been given before, another rumored date purports that the album will drop in the summer.

Dr. Dre has delayed his third and final solo album Detox for the past decade, giving several release dates during that time. Another alleged release date has hit the Internet, suggesting that the West Coast veteran will drop his swan song on July 26th.

According to HHNM, HMV has made the album available for pre-order in the U.K. on July 25th. The date, which falls on a Monday, would suggest that the LP would release in the States the following day, as albums release in the U.K. a day earlier.

  2. actually Uzee, I've been in HMV about a week ago and I so a physical advert of Detox, giving the same release date, so it means that this time it is kind of serious.... bu then when I asked a guy working there about this, he said that it's not confirmed in any way and can be easily delayed again :(

  4. surely, detox can't drop in the u.k. before the u.s.? that'd be insane.
also feels weird [commercially] to drop it during summer; probably be delayed until august/sept., then.

  8. why would a store in the UK know when the album is coming out before anyone in the US?

  9. Uzee this seems like this would actually be a legit date it would be perfect timing on Dre's behalf that would make it also a pretty big summer for releases with lady ga ga for interscope and the whole Beats thing + / Em's ep and the Red album Game stated his album would proceed Dres there is also the possibility of 50's Black Magic I think it will happen it's now or never or this will definitely lose momentum You deserve it the fans deserve it it's time to deliver another classic also I looked on Wikepedia a Dre 2012 album of unreleased material from 2001 and Detox any truth or source to that that would be awesome would be nice to hear your thoughts on this plus I'm never givin up hope on The Planet's another great idea peace Art Man

  10. can we make it a rule that you have to use a period at least once in your comment? shits annoying.

  11. ummm but if detox comes out at that time it affects the performance of red album detox is more of a fall release trust me look at the times his first two albums were released

  12. HMV have been forever changing the dates, don't pay attention.

Also to everyone saying "Dre needs to drop it in the summer, it's a summer album etc etc", The Chronic & 2001 both dropped in the October - December period and The Chronic is one of the biggest summer albums ever and it didn't hurt its sales!

    Shmosh.

  13. I think we've circled around this enough times to not care anymore. HMV and others, especially European websites, have thrown up specific release dates on their Detox product pages so many times over the years I can't even count anymore. It has nothing to do with anything but racking up preorders from people who don't know any better and get excited thinking it's really coming soon. IMO making more blog posts about these UK stores offering dates is a waste of time because they never happen and it's stupid to think they somehow are in the know more than US retailers or Interscope. These stores' dates aren't even a rumor, they're a scam to get people to preorder it so they can charge them when it eventually does come out, and the dates are based on nothing.

There's no date for Detox because Dre is still working on the album and he's obviously been on no deadline for anything, so these Euro stores don't know any better about its release than I do. Beyond the fact HMV and others have done this a million times before, it's absurd to believe they have any info on a date because nobody does. Not even Dre. If you think Detox is coming in less than two months in Europe without any confirmation, any marketing hype, any news/release date for even a SINGLE, and zero word from Interscope/Aftermath or even US retailers which (I'm sorry but it's true) would know better than HMV UK or a French online CD shop, then you must be new to Detox. Have I made my point yet?

  14. why would i believe hmv or whatever, when dre him self comes out and say 4/20 baby im coming paw paw, and then it turned out to be a lie

  15. things change. Dre doesnt give a fuck if we want the album now. He is going to release it when he wants to and thats the end of it. We can be mad at him all we want but its not going to change anything. He doesnt care

  16. As much as i wish this were true, we all know its not. If it were true don't you think we would at least get the album art? I'm hoping it does come out in the 4th quarter. October, November, December are the ones im leaning toward too. #Detox will be the best album of 2011 and a Classic!

  17. not the best album of 2011, but of 2014 :P dre will release it on his 50th birthday :P or maybe he will prefer to do it during his 60th birthday?

  18. To the post right above me: Dr. Dre will be 50 in 2015 ;-)

  19. I guess I agree with you guys it looks like no summer release God there hasn't been anything released since what December that's when I need a doctor leaked Aftermath releases the past year Eminem Recovery Bad Meets Evil What the hell is going on there I'm beginning to think Hip Hop is dying and that it is running out of ideas hopefully Dre will change that when the time comes It would be nice to release something to hold us over unreleased material from Chonic years and material that won't make Detox gosh there's got to be hundreds of stuff out there it would definitely sell or hoew about a mixtape

  20. Although it is very unlikely it would be possdible for Dre to release this album on this date Look at how quick EM and Royce pieced together a 9 song E.P. that was announced in April but that probably won't happen From now on I'm not going to believe anything until it comes from Dre's mouth I'd just lioke to know what's going on and hear something from him himself if Em can reason why Dre couldn't do it and stil be successful

  21. Em and Royce don't compare. They're rappers and they're good at what they do, Dre is a known perfectionist and relies on everyone else in hip-hop to do most of the work for him before he "perfects" it to exactly what he wants. Dre is the kind of guy that will spend an entire week tweaking the snare sound on a beat he'll end up throwing away the day after he finally finishes it anyway.

Em and Royce can sit down and write lyrics to any beat someone gives them because they're professional rappers. There's no shortage of producers for Hell: The Sequel and they probably got 500 beats the first day they announced the EP. I'm not saying they don't have the high standard or work ethic of Dre, I'm just saying there's no comparison because they do different things in different ways. Everyone knows Dre is like that, always has been, even Tupac went on on the record talking shit about Dre for it.

  22. Sorry to burst your bubble but Dre is not as big as Eminem. He is lucky that Em has stuck by him all these years because if he didnt Dre would be a complete afterthought.......

  23. If it's true, it's coming right in time with my HINDU KUSH harvest, sick ! Smokin' KUSH to the new Dre album !

But I don't think it's gonna be this time, let's wait and see. Like we are doing for a few years no ?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I want to trust this but until there's an official date i'll keep my wits.

    ReplyDelete
  25. u would think there would be a couple of dre tracks on the radio to promote album
