50 Cent says his next album is nearly complete, and fans can count on a few appearances from the Good Doctor
Although 50 Cent's souring relationship with his record label Interscope may have seemingly railroaded the release of his latest album, 50 says that hasn't kept him from recording. Now, Fiddy says that his next as-of-yet untitled project is nearly completed and features production from his mentor Dr. Dre.
BET.com caught up with the G-Unit general at the 10th anniversary issue release party of Smooth Magazine to discuss the status of his long-awaited release. The Queens rapper says that he's nearly finished recording the project and that fans can expect to see his latest effort on shelves this Novemeber, complete with two beats from Dr. Dre.
“It’s good man, I’m done, actually - I just got to go through the mixing process,” he said. “It’s just the system and everybody being on deck at the same time to move at the same pace. When I have a conversation about something I expect it to happen like right after we talk about it.”
As previously reported, 50 Cent was involved in a heated dispute with his long-time label Interscope Records over the handling of the album's promotion.

If this record is out by the fourth quarter, you can count this as definitive proof that Detox is nowhere on the radar for release anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if "The Psycho" ends up being on this 50 album......Only good thing is we will at least get to hear it finally!
ReplyDeleteit shouldn't have a huge delay on detox, as 50states he only worked on 2 tracks.
ReplyDeleteit's even more possible, that the two beats Dre did for this album, he made with Detox in mind, but decided he doesn't want them any more and so gave them away to 50
ReplyDeleteof course he says this ,just to generate the hype ,otherwise 50 albums from grodt were all crap
ReplyDeleteUzee, it's less about the actual studio output from Dre, and much more to do with Interscope's quarterly profit margins. They aren't going to release a modestly-hyped 50 Cent album, which is an inevitable money-maker for them to satisfy investors whether it sucks or not, and then throw out the long-hyped Detox anywhere close to the same time. It makes much more sense to space them out, as they've proven to do since it makes sense, so as to construct an appropriately huge marketing campaign if and when Dre gives Jimmy the "okay" on Detox being completed, since Detox is essentially a mythical album at this point. I'll be proven right when you see a huge campaign start to be unveiled if Dre ever manages to finish it.
ReplyDeleteIf Interscope is going ahead with 50's album so soon, which is a bit surprising, it can only mean (at least to me) they very well know Detox is far from ready. That's the big money-maker for Interscope and if it's not ready, they have to satisfy quarterly bottom lines and put out something, like a 50 Cent album with perhaps some leftover Detox beats and Dre-affiliated hype, to get something out of it while still hyping up Detox. I could be wrong and they could use 50 Cent's new album as a prelude for Detox marketing but I would never side with the assumption Detox is ready and instead always assume Dre is just not done. There are your two possibilities, I've already told you what I think and where I stand.
If interscope was smart they would start the promotion this fall while 50 cents album is released, early 2012 they would release a detox special 2 disk edition which includes Detox along with a second disk which includes all the finished leaked tracks. Then they would promote the shit out of it and tour etc.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't people post positive things? 50 and Dre are great musicians.
