Swizz Beatz Detox "Will Be 'Worth The Wait'

'Everybody just gotta chill out and let that man do his thing,' Swizz tells MTV News.

Good things come to those who wait. So while rap fans continue to clamor over Dr. Dre's long-awaited but hopefully forthcoming Detox, producer Swizz Beatz says to "chill out."

The "On to the Next One" producer told MTV News that he has been in the lab with Dre and together the pair has created about four songs. As of now, Swizz isn't sure which, if any, of their co-creations will end up on Detox, but he has secured one record called "VIP Chillin' " for his upcoming Haute Living LP.

"It's just been a great experience for me, whether they go on the album, whether they don't go on the album," Swizz said of his time spent in the studio with Dre and the songs they've recorded. " 'V.I.P. Chillin',' I took that one for myself, but I would gladly give it back to him anytime he wants it back."

Swizzy is particularly fond of Dre's performance on the aforementioned song. "He's energetic. He's vibing in a way that you've never heard him before," he said. "So even if he don't put that one particular track out, I'm blessed to have the blessing from him to have it for my album."

He does have his favorite, but Beatz says that he is confident with any of his and Dre's songs surfacing. In addition to the work that they did together, Swizz, who has heard at least some of Detox, is supportive of the Doctor and the album's delay. "Dre has amazing songs and I think everything is worth the wait. He's a genius, he's a legend and it's just no getting around that," he said. "Everybody just gotta chill out and let that man do his thing. He's a master at what he does, hands down."

The Bronx, New York, producer has a message for fans that let their impatience grow into doubt of Dr. Dre's capabilities to produce another rap classic. "Don't ever count a master out. I'm never counting a person like Dre out."

  3. Yeah but he also says that he doesnt know if Dre would use it for his own album. Thats how I interpret it when he says "I would give it back" and "even if he doesent use this particular track" and so on.

  7. Checking Out...24 May 2011 at 01:34

I agree this has been very disappointing filled process. personally i got to stop going through every day of my life hoping for this album to get a release date. you just cant rely on dre to give us anything concrete to go off of... all this speculation and anticipation is pointless. I think i'm ready to do what the rest of america has done and just forget about this album for awhile and when it comes out it comes out. Will make my life much easier.

  8. farrk at least release die hard in full on itunes or something to tide over the few fans still clinging to hope, damn. the worst thing an artist can do when theyre wanting to make one last dent on the industry before bowing out is alienate their fans like this! but then again Jimmy's focussed on his interscope cash-cow gaga atm so no detox yet again

  10. Detox is over, scrapped, finito

It's for the best too, dre realised the music he was making was sub par, he tried the pop sound and it flopped, so at the last minute I think he decider to shelve this incarnation of detox

Sorry just my 2 cents......I think it's over

  11. Cosmic i couldnt agree more.......the other day this dude made a great statement....it went like this....

"If Dre was such a great producer than why has it taken all these years to produce this record....dont the great ones usually do it in less time than the others because of the fact that they are great?

Well fucking said in my opinion. The Doc is over.

  12. Firstly, I think it's a little bit different with Detox. I think Dre got ready tens of different types of rap songs... He got some pop ones (e.g. INAD), some 2001 alike ones (e.g. Kush), some club ones (e.g. Mr Prescription), but also more hardcore tunes (e.g. Die Hard). I think, what he did by releasing the two singles and leaking the other songs, was to check to which types of tunes people will respond the most positive and which they will like the most. That's why I think Detox will be a compromise of songs like INAD and Die Hard and I think it's definitely coming soon.

Secondly, I think you don't really get why Dre is such a good producer. It's not only because he is talented, but also he is very careful when he produced music. He takes the time, perfections every bit of a tune and makes sure everything fits and is really second to none. That's why Detox takes so long. But I think, or at least hope, that ones it comes out, it will be really great.

  13. ^I think your disillusioned. Holding on to a dream thats just not there anymore. Its time to wake up and get back to reality. Your fooling yourself if you think its all about perfecting a beat because from what ive heard none of these leaks were perfect...far from it in fact....

Dre has lost his mojo, and he better call Austin to get it back before he loses his legacy....

Mabye he shouldnt release it, cause from what ive heard it could be an epic failure....
