Mr Porter To Produce Two Songs On Detox

The D12 member reveals that he laced Dre with two beats for the elusive "Detox."

Billboard recently caught up with Mr. Porter (a/k/a Denaun Porter) to discuss his contributions to Eminem and Royce Da 5'9"'s acclaimed collaborative EP Hell: The Sequel. During the interview, Porter revealed that Bad Meets Evil's reunion EP isn't the only Shady/Aftermath project to which he's contributed beats. The Detroit producer revealed that he has two tracks featured on Dr. Dre's long awaited Detox. Porter discussed what it was like to produce for such a HIp Hop icon and why he's willing to wait for as long as it takes to hear Dre's third solo LP.

"[My two songs are] really different," he explained. "I didn't want to do what everybody else was doing and...send him a weed-smoking song. Dre's like a big brother to me, so I know what to approach him with, and the songs we did for him are totally different."

Porter added, "I don't care when it comes out, really. It doesn't matter to me if it ever comes out. I understand the pressure he's got on him, everybody asking for it. He's just real particular about songs. If it comes, it comes. If it doesn't, it doesn't. He can do whatever he wants."

Denaun Porter also discussed what it was like to work with the newly reunited Em and Royce.

Next Dre single feat 50Cent

50 spoke to MTV about the rampage that he went on yesterday on Twitter accusing his label of not cooperating with him. He also confirms that he album is not called Black Magic and that he’s featured on the next Dr. Dre single called ‘The Psycho’.

“So I had the record I was ready to launch, and we sat down and everybody talked. What happens is, there are a lot of people involved in my actual launch, because its three parties; it’s Shady, then you got Aftermath, then you got Interscope, and then you got me on my end. So by the time we got to go sit down with [Interscope chairman] Jimmy [Iovine], we talked a little bit, and then I ended up having to go see Dre, because we had the little issue, the confusion about the Twitter stuff.”

“We sat down, we cleared that up, me and Dre, and then we said, ‘Let’s just get back to the music and do what we do. Immediately after, we wrote a song together called ‘The Psycho’; it’s Dre’s next single.”

Jay Rock gets guidance from Dre

The Strange Music rapper entails how the collaboration came to be and how Dr. Dre has an inspirational hand in his upcoming debut, "Follow Me Home."

Jay was recently spotted in the studio with Terrace Martin and Dr. Dre, who doesn’t contribute production to Follow Me Home but helped provide guidance. “They came through and brought that good energy for me. Shout out to DJ Quik. He mixed ‘All My Life,’ my first single, back then. He also mixed my new single ‘Hood Gon’ Love It,’ be on the lookout for that,” he continued. “I was up in Dre’s studio mixing the record, so we had him come in and listen. That was a big thing for me. [...] He was basically just in there and came through for me and brought that energy.” 

Follow Me Home is slated for release on July 26^th.

'Beat's hit with lawsuit by by rival Signeo

Super producer Dr. Dre's company Beats Electronics LLC has been hit with a lawsuit by Signeo USA, a rival producer of headphones and high end audio products.

The lawsuit, which was filed on June 2nd in The United States District Court for the Northern District of California, also names Monster Cable as a defendant.

Signeo is being represented by Lan Kennedy-Davis of Davis and Kennedy in Lakewood Florida, who did not return calls about the lawsuit.

While Beats Electronics is known for Dr. Dre's popular headphone line Beats by Dre, Signeo USA is known for marketing Ludacris' brand of headphones, Soul.

Beats Electronics was founded by Dr. Dre and Interscope CEO Jimmy Iovine in 2006.

Chronic sales lawsuit

Dr. Dre won't be behind the microphone at a federal courthouse after all - the rapper settled a lawsuit over damages from unauthorized online sales of his album "The Chronic" a day before trial.

Attorneys for the rap superstar, whose real name is Andre Young, filed a notice of settlement in a Los Angeles federal court late Monday afternoon. He had been expected to testify during the weeklong trial, which would have decided whether Young was entitled to 100 percent of the profits from online sales of the rap album, which also helped launch the career of Snoop Dogg.

No details of the settlement, which is not yet finalized, were filed with the court.

In April a judge ruled that WIDEawake Death Row Records didn't have the proper permission to sell Young's music online or repackage it on new CD releases. The label purchased the holdings of original Death Row Records, which launched the careers of several rappers, out of bankruptcy.

He sued WIDEawake Death Row in 2010 for breach of contract, trademark infringement and misappropriation of his likeness.

Young was a co-founder of the label, but negotiated a deal to leave the company that required Death Row to obtain his permission before selling his music digitally. On Monday, "The Chronic" was no longer available for download on Apple's popular music service iTunes.

There was no immediate comment from attorneys for either Young or WIDEawake Death Row.
