detox will never be released
ReplyDeletePopped Off can be expected to be included on TI's coming LP with this as an official single then. Not a surprise...
ReplyDeleteWhy would you waste time and money on that? Dont get me wrong its a good song but its just a mixtape track not really worthy of a music video.
ReplyDeleteI bet at some point when it was a Detox track that it may have been an intended single since it was an official snippet from the Dr. Pepper commercial. If it was maybe worth it for Detox then, it's damn worth it for TI's LP now.
ReplyDeleteI like the song, I think most people do/did, and I still think it's pretty banging now, so it makes sense if TI wants to use it to promote his upcoming LP with the Dre feature and production. It was on the mixtape but I'm pretty goddamn sure it'll make the LP anyway. Not a waste of time from TI's view, just sort of obvious when you're picking a single and see a fairly hot joint with the Dre co-sign all over it on the tracklist.
who said it was for popped off? hmmmm.....lol
ReplyDeleteThats a great point. These silly kids so hyped up for some dre music that they don't even notice that it doesn't say anything about popped off. This very well could be a new track. Guess we will have to wait to find out.
Deleteim not sure whats going with TI
ReplyDeletehe has 3 singles out, but there isnt
a release date yet, and top of that
who releases a mixtape while putting out
singles? im not sure but maybe popped off
could be the first single
I think it's obvious it's for Popped Off. It just makes too much sense to even argue.
ReplyDeleteDetox will come like a thief!
ReplyDeleteWhy would Ti put popped off on his Lp. In recent interviews he has said that he has loads of different material for trouble man. i think that popped off is a great track (too good for a mixtape) but why release something that is already viral. Back in december slim the mobster said that dre and ti had some hot shit going on. Maybe it is for a different ti/dr dre single for trouble man or dare i say detox. Remember Antonio Hewlett did say for a new dr dre video.
ReplyDeleteThere reads Dr.Dre/TI not TI/Dr.Dre. Aint the lead singer or rappers supposed to be the first? Maybe new track so?
ReplyDeletePlease stop over analysing this. It is clear to see that this is for popped off. Ti's mixtape was alright but popped off just made me sit up and listen. Dre mixed it to perfection and it would be a good first single for Ti as i believe that the track suited his flow.
ReplyDeleteWhen dre drops his first single i think he will drop a track with em or snoop on it this will set the scene and sound of the album. Jst hope there is some news soon. Hip hop is in a bad state at the moment and dre is needed!!
Maybe just maybe this could be a single from Dr Dre's new mixtape.....it seems Dre started first with T.I. when he made his rounds putting southern rappers on this project....and I still say Detox is completed, why do you think Dre is relaxed and seemingly having fun...He's obviously very comfortable with his music FWise
ReplyDeleteI don't get this Dre mix tape idea there is no proof that is what he is planning to do. He is obsessed with making money and he ain't going to give his stuff away for free when he can do a detox special edition when sales start to dip. I really think some of the rappers like T.I and Rick Ross will be on detox
DeleteIm quite sure it was late last year when whoo kid and dre were talking about a mixtape, so yes there is proof. A mixtape would actually be the best idea for dre who hasnt really released anything big since "2001" it would start massive hype if dre released a mixtape with rick ross and shit on there and kickstart detox so it makes more sense for him to do a mixtape than for him not to.
DeleteYour really decieiving yourself if you think Dre cares about the money. Jimmy Iovine does but Dre cares about making a big impact as he always does, bringing a new sound and forever sealing his legacy with 3 classics. No matter what Dre drops it will sell
DeleteI get what your saying but, first of all Dre has hundreds maybe thousands of beats he could throw on a mixtape for free.Dre is worth 3 maybe 4 hundred million dollars so the music for him is'nt about the the money for him it's about the art.....I think Detox is west coast, but a mixtape allows him to artistically to experiment with artist he normally would'nt work with"t.i.,rick ross, tito lopez, meek mill, lil wayne, drake, nelly etc.......And this would be a perfect catalyst prequel for Detox, so when it drops he'll have that teenage and young adult demographic in place.... FWise
DeleteYou nailed it dead on.
DeleteDre doesn't need any money I think that's a well known fact. As far as the mix tape thing goes I think it's a great idea because all these YMCMB fans won't have a clue to who Dr. Dre is. So what better way to get them to know who he is then to have them/Rick Ross/Meek Mill/T.I. etc. all those on a mix tape to get his name out. I just can't wait to hear all the haters and doubters bumpin Detox talkin bout Dre is the shit when they for damn sure weren't saying or are saying that now!
ReplyDeleteFor all you saying what proof is there that Dre is making a mixtape. Go look at what DJ Whoo Kid said a while back about the mixtape.
ReplyDeleteI also have no idea when the mixtape idea became an accepted fact. It sort of makes sense on paper but Dr. Dre just isn't a mixtape artist, he's not even a real rapper, and whatever is left over he'd definitely want to sell for money.
ReplyDeletePlus I'd think if a mixtape were out to set the tone for Detox, it'd only negatively soften the hype for it and leave it really vulnerable to criticism under the impossible hype. The dude above me is completely right IMO, Dre likes to make money, hates the fact music can be downloaded when it can be bought, and has no reason to rap on a mixtape when he can't even finish Detox in less than ten years with everyone writing and producing for it. I don't think much of a TI and Ross collaboration making the cut on Detox, I just think Dre is literally working with everybody when he's in town just to see what works and if there's potential there after his coaching.
I read that Slim confirmed on Twitter that Back Against the Wall is years old which is why the beat first appeared on a TI track. To think Dre is going around the country with a hyperactive focus constructing an elaborate mixtape when he takes literally an eternity to do any sort of finalized production that sees the light of day just makes no sense. Whoo Kid just threw out the idea once a long time ago, never mentioned, confirmed, or heard about since, and everyone accepts it as unquestionable fact just because they want and expect it.
The thing that gets me though is why dre has got this hyperactive focus? Dre must be close as he has been all over the place. Why would dre travel to Miami to go to ross's party and work on ross's album? Detox is and will be the only album I have studied day in day out. 2012 has to be the year hasn't it?
DeleteIt isn't like he's never traveled anywhere in the past decade, went to any sort of event or party, nor did some sessions with whomever was around and made time. It's really, really not that uncommon, especially when you realize Dr. Dre has worked with literally everyone at some point since beginning sessions for Detox up to now. It doesn't mean they're all making the cut, and I imagine someone like Dre will put in a studio session with whomever to get a feel for how it would come out.
DeleteBack in '10, Slim mentioned in an interview Dre was in Detroit finishing up Detox with Eminem. He travels to do whatever and we don't hear about it, but when he works with guys he's never met before, they get excited and mention it publicly. It could mean something but IMO it just doesn't unless there's a steady reason to make more out of it than what it is.
The point was there is no hyperactive focus because it goes against Dre's work ethic and routine since Death Row. He doesn't hop around the country in an ADHD blaze getting in and finalizing productions with artists he literally just met for the first time and moves on to the next. The simple answer is he's in town for this or that, who knows, and puts in sessions with names just for the fuck of it to see what works (if anything). The day Dre produces, mixes, and finalizes a track with someone he literally just met in one night ready to make the cut of anything means the steroids have clearly put holes in his brain. He just doesn't work that way and never has since anyone can remember.
As I said before all signs point towards Detox being released in April or at the minimum being announced but I think it's going to drop unexpectedly what better way to start off his buzz then to drop Detox all of sudden my guess is he'll announce at Coachella that it's dropping.
Deletekeep it simple the thinkin - although somebody mentioned a mixtape - it was maybe a minority. Meanign there hasnt been no real hype/noise about a mixtape.
ReplyDeleteSo at the moment im not gettin hopes up for a mixtape,
I just went back and watched that DJ Whoo Kid interview and everything he said appears to match whats been going on lately. Of course this is all speculation because no one knows for sure, but I'm really feelin pretty good that we're gonna get a dope ass mixtape featuring a wide varity of different artist ova beats by Dre. As a fan, and a long follower of Detox this is perfect for me!! We could potentially be getting an abundece of new material with a mixtape and hopefully thereafter. I for one have liked pretty much all the leaks/potential tracks released since toppless (with the exeption of INAD) and am very excited to hear this shit already. I in know way have inside info, so this is just a guess.. maybe mixtape March and Detox in April around Concella. Maybe just wishful thinkin but tryin to stay postitive. Mlp
ReplyDeleteThis is a detox blog. People shut up about ymcb. You think that shits dope then you must think sucking dick is good too. That's the only thing ymcb is good at..trust me i know
ReplyDeleteNobody is talking about YMCMB (whatever the fuck that stands for) on here but I have to know if you just implied you suck dick? Your sentence was confusing sir.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I want less a mixtape and much more official tracks that would've made the Detox cut but just didn't fit in for whatever reason AFTER the fact. I couldn't give two shits about a Dre mixtape out before Detox because it wouldn't mean anything except to market something else and nothing more. There would be no real artistic merit to it and no point except to appeal to the mass of idiots and legitimize this idea hip-hop can't sell or mean anything unless it involves ONLY whoever is hot RIGHT NOW - which is the dumbest possible shit that's been going on for way too long because 90% of whoever is hot right now sucks ass and should've been banished from the game long ago.
I respected Dre precisely because he couldn't give two shits about who is hot, just who has the potential and who works best for this or that. The thought of Dre entertaining the idea of selling out to make some bitch ass corporate marketing mixtape with Meek, Ross, Nelly, probably Gucci and Waka while he's at it, shit why not Kreayshawn and V-Nasty, just to get attention and money from kids who couldn't appreciate Detox even if they were taught how since watching Sesame Street, is just a stupid idea to me. That's all. Maybe he's on some mixtape shit, maybe not, but I doubt it and even if it happened I could only believe he was never for it but did it anyway.
Dude is an almost 50-year-old producer, not a rapper, so what's even the point of a mixtape on his end beyond just marketing bullshit? Put out the cutting room floor joints later or package them in a special edition with a DVD documentary on the entire saga of making it. Shit I'd buy it. Twice. Even if I still have no money then. At least it'd give the material justice that he feels deserves to be heard compared to the 99% of shit he's made nobody will ever hear while he's still breathing. It's better than hearing Nelly on a Dre beat that only exists and saw the light of day just to dumb down the art for a dumbed down audience. Stop me if I'm wrong I know I'm ranting...
I agree with you 100% FWise
DeleteI think he implied that he gets his dick sucked by YMCMB. Thats disturbing. Anyway, I do agree with your comment. But I do wonder: if Dre has publicity and the younger audience as a priority no matter what, how else can he do it? How else can he get to that audience? He has his name floating around because of his business and because you hear about him kicking it with other mainstream artists. Yes, probably because he wants to regardless of the publicity, but that doesn't explain why he goes in the studio with them. He's still missing that audience even after everything (albeit not much) he's done. I never once jumped to the conclusion that Dre was making a mixtape, but I'm starting to think it might be a good decision if done right. I feel like they've ran outta ideas..
Delete"How else can he get to that audience?"
DeleteHe should not try to get to that audience. The audience should try to get to him. That's how he always did it, and how he still should do it.
Drefan since 91
I agree, but I doubt Dre and Jimmy would agree. They arent doing alot of things the way they used to..
DeleteIt just seems so weird lately, because every rapper he's worked with from december 2011 to now will not reveal what they are working on with Dre...they just at the least mention it's for Dre's situation. Sounds like everyones tight lipped about this project they're working on....everybody in the past just admitted they worked on Detox, now nobodys saying anything, sounds like its a secret project like a mixtape.....else all these rappers would just say im working on Detox with Dre, but the fact is Dre has them silent? FWise
ReplyDeleteA mixtape could jepardise detox. As mentioned before dre is very pick about what he puts out and if he put a mixtape out and it gets ripped to shreads, detox wont be out for another 10 years. There has to be a finish line soon though, dre is 47 this month and a 47 year old rapping about bitches and smoking chronic dosnt suite his entrepreneurial lifestyle. And iam sure that he is getting bored of perfoming the same tracks over and over again. Iam hoping for something by Coachella however, i have a gut feeling it will be another beats by dre advertisment show.
ReplyDeleteNa your wrong there. The mixtape will not be Detox. The mixtape is for the hype, buzz let people know he's back and for all of the people from this generation who don't know him much. Na trust me Coachella I have a feeling is going to where our wait stops 4/20 is around Coachella, Coachella itself is a huge event and while I know hmv is not reliable at all it has the date for April 16 so that must mean something because it coincides with Coachella and 4/20. Plus some insider on Kanyetothe has been saying he can't tell us anything anymore about Detox until a week before Coachella so all this has to mean something.
DeleteDETOX IS COMING..(either this year..or never)
ReplyDelete"I need a Doctor" will win a grammy for best rap/sung collaboration.
The buzz will start again when Dr. Dre steps on the stage to receive the award..
The beats by Dr. Dre headphones will be used as a marketing campaign for DETOX. Peep the Detox edition headphones. That might be a sneak preview of the cover logo as well..
I predict the album will drop this December. If not sooner (hopefully)
If it doesn't drop this year it's never coming out..
Features: I can see Jay-Z, Beyonce, Rhianna, Maybe Lady Gaga (a HUGE maybe), Lil Wayne, Pharrell, T.I., Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Game, Eminem, Snoop, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Jay Rock, Xzibit (I doubt it but maybe), La Roux, DJ Quik, Kurupt, Daz, D.O.C., and hopefully some others. Everyone won't have a verse, but will definitely contribute to the album.
Just wishful thinking : )
Wrong. It will be all west coast mostly the new artists like Kendrick and Slim along with unknown ones and a little help from all the old guys Snoop, Dogg Pound etc. and obviously the greatest ghost writer of all time D.O.C.
DeleteHow do you know he is wrong has dre said it will be all west coast. em will be on detox and he ain't west coast Jay Z was going to be on the first single at one point. I hope it has a good core of west coast artists on it but to say it won't have any others style of hip hop is just stupid
DeleteI highly doubt DPG will show up on the final cut of Detox if it sees the light of day. Dude above me is right, I expect Jay, Nas, Em, and 50 to show up somewhere, but if not then we know they've recorded serious tracks meant for it at some point.
DeleteI can't believe it will exclusively feature WC guys, much less Lady Gaga, Wayne, Ross, Busta, La Roux (they were NEVER included as a true feature anyway), Quik, or Pharrell. Just because some big names were in the studio with Dre lately has no bearing on them making Detox, otherwise you would have to include a list 100,000x bigger from everyone that has been in on these Detox sessions since 2002. Plus DOC isn't going to be featured, his voice is unfortunately fucked up (he had a creative falling out with Dre over including his voice on one of his own albums), but I'll be more than happy if his direction manifests on some records.
Detox will be what it is and whomever Dre feels is the best for the beat, and besides, getting hung-up on features is what's fucking up hip-hop's credibility to sell out to trendiness. Spin an album for the artist who put it out, not on who randomly shows up on the tracklist. Big name albums need to be about the artist, not a laundry list of features of who is only currently hot, and the TDE guys' albums work because they focus on the actual artist. A big fuck up on Game's last album was that he saturated the entire damn thing with useless features and bullshit tracks that ended up diluting the entire thing.
Na I highly doubt that. Plugin you got a educated perspective but I think your wrong here. The album will be west coast and there are many things that point towards. Sly & Nikki Grier are the new west coast R&B/Hooks, Kendrick Lamar is the west coast, Slim The Mobster is whatever but he's also new. He'll have west coast artist because that's how Dre has always done it. Work with mostly young artists with a new sound while keeping elements of the old.
DeleteWhy would he change the formula that has worked for him. He's working on the mixtape for a reason. All those guys you mentioned will be on the mixtape probably along with the the wack rappers like Ross. Why would he have Eminem, 50, Jay-Z or any of the similar ones? Do you people forget he has changed the whole concept once again. He was about to drop the techno sounding album because he was working with outside artists and a outside sound. Now we know he's back with all the old guys Dogg Pound is dropping a album, S2C hopefully is dropping this year, A Good Kid In A Mad City, The Movie, Pre-Detox Mixtape and those are the projects we know of.
If my theory is right then he will do it like he's always done all these albums will drop somehow back to back and capitalize off the previous's hype. Plus Black Hippy members are dropping there own albums this is the year of the west coast. Or at least hopefully. Eminem fell off long time ago same with 50 plus him, Dre & the label are beefing.
Jay-Z is the same why would he work with old artists and not stick to his old formula the same one he was about to drop and flop?
Those guys will be on the mixtape I think The Psycho with 50 Cent is on the mixtape, i'm not sure if it still is, it might be I said a while back they were on the mixtape but things probably changed like always. Oh I just remembered Snoop Dogg just announced his new album what do you guys think this all means? It means what I just wrote.
This is going to be a LONG ASS REPLY ahead.
DeleteI don't believe there's any Detox mixtape coming but that's my opinion. No word or anything about it except Whoo Kid mentioning it once a long ass time ago and that's it. There's a good chance it can happen but there's no real reason to believe it except expecting/wanting it to happen. I don't buy it just because it makes sense on paper and it's extra true when it comes to Dre who is the opposite of a mixtape artist. Slim fought hard to put out his own mixtape through Aftermath which is already a boutique label focusing on limited high-profile releases, and they've not needed gimmicks like mixtapes to promote Dre's projects which always magnetize ultra hype. Plus Dre isn't a rapper and supplemental tracks should only come as a special edition with/after Detox than coming out before it and making the real record vulnerable before it's out.
I'm not disagreeing Detox will be a WC-oriented album because it should and will IMO. Makes sense. I'm saying it's nuts to make a list of dudes Dre has only been with in the studio lately and automatically establishing them as intended features now. What people forget is that every name in hip-hop has, at some point, contributed writing and production to Detox at some time. Back Against he Wall by Jake One was given to Dre years ago (Slim said the joint was recorded years ago) but when nothing happened with it, he gave it to TI for Salute which is why it's recycled.
DPG said Dre/Snoop are exec producing their next album but that's it. It could mean Dre is contributing beats to it (likely) but that's it. Exec producing, especially for big names like Dre, means he'll go through the album sent to him to micromanage this or that to his preference. He may mix and master it. Executive producing = giving your opinion and making some finishing touches to what you think makes it better. Has little to do with DPG=Detox although I think putting Kurupt and Daz on Detox would be a good look. Game and Interscope kept hyping up the Dre and Game reunion but that ended up being completely full of shit right? Dre didn't exec produce RED and didn't put in any track production; all he did was put in some narrations. I'm sure Dre worked with Game on RED and put in some suggestions but he sure as hell didn't get any credit beyond the narrations, so I assume he had little to do with RED's content.
I don't know how you or anyone can claim Em and 50 aren't making the cut, even with Dre/Iovine's strained relationship with 50 now. Don't ever forget: Em and 50 were the powerhouse and backbone of Interscope/Aftermath's music sales, merchandise, ticket revenue, and all that money. Those two rappers carried mainstream rap for a good while and still do, plus everyone knows the trifecta is Dre-Eminem-50 Cent. Excluding them is like claiming the next Drake album will have no Wayne or Nikki feature.
Dre is tight with Jay and has said it, and Jay penned Still D.R.E. after Snoop and DOC's verses were thrown out. He's going to end up on it. Dude was supposed to feature on the first big Detox joint Under Pressure right? A UK tabloid said Dre and Jay were touching up a new joint with a possible Beyonce hook. He'll make it somewhere. Dre put in some production for Jay's Kingdom Come album too so I think it's obvious he'll find a way on the final cut.
My predicted features are Em, 50, Jay, Nas, Slim, Kendrick, Snoop, Sly, Nikki Grier, TI, Game, and my short wishlist is Cube, Ren, and Bishop Lamont most of all. Anything else will be a pleasant/unpleasant surprise to me. IMO Dre should keep it simple and keep it a Dre album as best he can, not being a conductor for an orchestra of a million different artists and producers making an entire album in just his name.
No but see the problem with putting Em, 50, Jay there old and fell off long time ago. Why would Dre put them on Detox? The mixtape it makes sense but why Detox? Dre is all about bringing a new sound and new artists to go with that new sound he was going to put Em. Jay all these guys on Detox and then after bad reception for songs like Under Pressure and Die Hard as I mentioned he realized that he has to work with the same thing that made the 2 previous album successful. Dre doesn't care about the big names other artists working with him have said that before.
DeleteIt's about the music and the art not the big names or the money. Jimmy Iovine cares about money but when it comes to music not Dre. So what he wrote Still Dre? One song doesn't mean Jay is going to be on the album these are old grown ass artists who are way out of there prime no way is Dre putting them on the album especially after all the bad reception. Warren G is release Regulate 2 and Nate Dogg EP, Dre is exec producing DPG album, Game is going to have all the Dre produced tracks for R.E.D. that were leftover on S2C and thats sort of already been confirmed plus Kendrick Lamar's album, Slim's album do you honestly believe all this is a coincidence? We have several west coast artists connected with Dre in some way dropping the album no way is that a coincidence. Dre's plan is to bring the west back not just with Detox but all the other music he's going to be involved in.
Dre is close with a lot of people that doesn't mean there going to be on the album. As far as the mixtape it makes more sense for him to make it then not. Dre does not care about the money as I said he's coming back this year by being involved in many projects and for that reason alone the mixtape makes sense along with the hype, introduction etc.
Dre will put Em and 50 on Detox because they're the premier Aftermath rappers, and he's never been about only working with who is hot now. He works with who he's comfortable with and has what he needs to take the track to 100%. Plus everyone expects 50 and Em on Detox - who on this planet disagrees?
DeleteAs far as Jay, I was never the biggest fan but he's a legend and Watch the Throne was a big album this year. Not old news or washed up at all, Jay-Z is still running shit and from what I've gathered over the years, Dre is big on Jay and his chances of making the cut on Detox is about as good as anyone else after Em and 50. How can you forget he was the lead feature on Under Pressure had Dre put it out officially? Dre wants him on Detox.
DPG mentioned Dre and Snoop are exec producing their upcoming project sometime on the horizon but that has nothing to do with Detox. I mean I'll be down if Daz and Kurupt make it on Detox but it's not a deal breaker for me or anyone. I'd absolutely love Warren (forgot about him) to make Detox because he deserves a place and I'm a fan, but we know Nate was hospitalized for years and has been effectively replaced with Sly since Kush. Game didn't even put RED through Aftermath, he's not on the label, and all the hype about Dre exec producing or making tracks was just bullshit that we all learned after the fact. The closest thing was Drug Test which was a Khalil joint and obviously a leftover from Detox. Say what you will about this or that "in the future" but the truth is that the hype about Game reuniting with Dre for RED was a phony story to get people to buy the album Dre had little to no musical production or direction on. Nothing to do with Detox.
The only "coincidence" is Dre signing Slim the Mobster who put out his own mixtape not long ago, which was okay but without the huge buzz or acclaim (at least compared to Bishop's best Aftermath-era mixtapes), and is putting out his own album. What a twist. Kendrick isn't signed to Aftermath and he shouldn't have to since he's doing his thing on TDE with his people. Last thing he needs is to sign to Aftermath and bury his head in indefinite limbo when he has his own success with his label and people without Dre's help. His debut LP will have production and direction from Dre, but their relationship is much more personal than business, and he'll be on Detox - but that's not a coincidence, it's just obvious. His LP isn't coming until way, way later this year and probably not through Aftermath anyway. What's the big correlation with Detox I'm not seeing?
We know Nate's family has to put out unreleased tracks to pay his hospital bills because apparently NOBODY is cutting a check to help them out. Again, nothing to do with Detox, and a whole other conversation.
Dre doesn't care about money, my ass. I'm sorry but I don't believe that because it's absurd. I remember Dre being one of those vocal celebrities loudly against Napster and this bullshit idea that downloading somehow equals taking money away from the artist. Dre cares about money but probably more what he cares about are sales to keep his name a premium name for his business ventures, and obviously he can't stand it when albums leak on the internet and can be grabbed for free. Now I'm not saying Dre only cares about money and the art is whatever, but to say money isn't on his mind working on these big, hyped productions and Detox does not compute sir.
Plugin you are dead wrong on this and well see soon enough.
DeleteHey plugin man u have some interesting thoughts, but your posts are way too long man. Just being real.
ReplyDeleteThrough all of our different opinions, theres one thing we should be excited about.....first off if dre is working on a mixtape then detox is completed. If dre is finishing a deluxe editon, detox is completed....call me crazy but dre is pressing toward some sort of deadline. He's producing his ass off as of late????? I say april is a realistic release date.. FWise
ReplyDeleteNah I feel you but when I need to articulate something I need to do it 100%. Forgive me for the times here and there I drag it on too much.
ReplyDeleteIts all good my man. I mean u hit these discussions from all angles & thats real cause there r so many unknown factors with detox. Respect.
Deletehey are there any updates on that Young world preview we heard a few months back? coz that shit was dope
ReplyDelete-kizman-
Young World has been out since 2010 in January. Slim The Mobster and Seige just tweeted the single for Slim's album is finished and Saige tweeted Detox is gonna be dopeeee!!!! i'm so serious
Deletenever comment on this blog but @Shattastar, really Wayne, Rick Ross, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and La Roux? Dr. Dre is keeping it West Coast (with the exclusion of Eminem) I honestly dont see 50 in Detox. If the mixtape rumors are real, yea he will be there along with East Coast and Southern rappers....
ReplyDeleteLets hope Detox is out just in time for Summer
-AR8
Dre u forgetting the bay area rappers! C'mon how r u forgetting too short e40 Andre nickatina!>:(
ReplyDeletehe never used them for any of his albums
DeleteBay Area rap has very little to do with the shit Dr. Dre makes or what LA rap is about, so there's literally no reason why he would push out others off Detox to make room for artists with no relevance. Frankly, Bay Area rap sucks ass and I say that as a resident of Oakland.
ReplyDeletewhy didnt my message on d parks tweet get posted ? it was always said that detox would shut down the industry . way to drop the ball uzze
ReplyDeletethe reason i didnt post it because you didnt provide a link to the tweet.
DeleteInfo in relation to tweets will only be posted if you provide the link to it aswell.
Its not hard to do. That goes for anyone.
Peace.
Dawaun parker (https://twitter.com/#!/DawaunParker) tweeted "All albums are canceled until further notice..." We all know he is working on his own project under aftermath, so this could be something to do with detox.
ReplyDeleteDetox must be near announcment. 50 was meant to drop his album in December! I know aftermath arnt the most consistant when it comes to release dates but this could indicate detox in the future. Detox will come out this year. Everything justs falls into place. Its the 20 year anniversary of the chronic, and with a bunch of west coast artists dropping this year it just makes sense!!

50 hasn't dropped his new project because he's had very-public tensions with Interscope over a lot of things. It's a whole other conversation we can debate but IMO it's been about Interscope giving him way less priority than he used to command, and he just hasn't realized or accepted it. I speculated elsewhere it could be Detox-related but his project's delays are his own issue... nothing to do with anything else. Worst-case he puts out mixtapes but that's what he gets for putting out shitty albums the past few years as an afterthought. Has nothing to do with Aftermath either, Dre and 50 have an almost non-existent relationship and he's been already pissing him off and Iovine at the same time.
DeleteHow much authority would Dawaun have over Detox anyway? Probably not much. It's Dre's baby and his will commands everything about it and changes his mind like he blinks. I don't think it's worthy of an article, Dawaun saying "all albums are cancelled until further notice" seems like it's already the goddamn logo of Aftermath in the first place if you look hard enough.
You think what you want to think but nobody knows shit. When dre drops the whole aftermath crew will come to a stand still and this Is what dawaunparker may be referring to. You are clearly a big hip hop fan plugin but most of your posts seem depressing I know you claim to "say it how it is" but come on man! When do you think that dre will drop plugin???
DeleteI agree.
DeleteMy aim isn't to be a downer at all man, but life has taught me the best way to predict the future is to go by the past, and with Dre it's an elaborate pattern of extremely little output against a tsunami of hype, anticipation, and waiting - at least for a while. I don't know anything more than you because my only personal claim to knowledge is paying attention on this Detox thing for years and years, pretty closely on and off, and making sense out of it my way. I'm no authority and you don't have to listen but my thoughts are mine. My interest in all music, much less life beyond it, is way beyond just Detox or WC rap in general anyway. Detox isn't my only hobby.
DeleteI've been saying since last year that I see Detox dropping by 2012. If nothing comes without a word from Dre about it by then, not a single or anything official, then I'm going to just move on and say fuck it. I'm really, really not trying to be depressing because like I've said a few times on here, nobody has ever won a bet predicting or claiming anything on Detox ever and I have no reason to start now.
What I do have big faith on is Detox dropping someday, by the end of 2012, and bringing back the West with the TDE guys ushering in a new era of LA rap. IMO those guys are the future, Slim not so much, and I'm a big fan of Kendrick, Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock establishing a new WC hip-hop scene because those guys have been riding high on top of their game without the help of Dre or Aftermath. That ain't so depressing, right? Then again it's hard to be an optimist when you're me, riding the constant ups and downs of Detox this or Detox that with NOTHING happening, nothing panning out, and disappointing bullshit like an INAD joint being forced through as a potential lead single produced by a pop radio producer like Alex da Kid.
I just hope detox doesn't sound like techno dubstep hip hop. On the jordane45 interview with slim the mobster he asked what it will take to bring the westcoast back and slim said whatever it takes if it's the dubstep or whatever brings us back. And dre has used a dubstep song on his commercial I just hope detox isn't like that
ReplyDeletesorry for asking but do we know if Die Hard will be on the album?
ReplyDelete-kizman-
Dont b sorry its a question. Answer is no idea. Maybe unlikely as its already leaked.
DeleteIt has? Link please
Deleteby leaked i meant a part of the track has leaked, not the whole. Youtube it.
DeleteDie hard wasn't really a leak it was on the pac man fight build up show which must mean dre wanted people to hear it. It did say at the time it was for detox maybe it didn't get a good response so he scraped it or it could still be on detox only Dre knows
ReplyDeleteI hope Die Hard stays on the album. I liked where it was going. Ems Chorus was a little corny, but is growing on me. Bad ass beat, and Dres raps were tight assholes. It is going to be a good day on this blog once this damn album drops! Itll be fun to see how we react to it! Will it be a bust? Or will it be that shit!?
ReplyDeleteJuDwEi$eR
mann that detox shit is gonna be as bomb as fucking a bitch in her ass yo. I dunno bout you but that shit crayy as hell..and nah it ain't gonna be a bust cuz we all gonna be bumping that shit, only thing that gonna bust is my nut every time I play it in my whip real talk. Oh and die hard is cool, I play it on youtube while i...you know
DeleteDie Hard's wack. Kush is wack because of Akon, I Need A Doctor is wack. None of these are Detox. Anyone who knows how Dre works would tell you this. Any song that leaks he doesn't put on the album he always puts fresh shit. That reason alone should be sufficient in letting you know that Die Hard is not going to be on Detox along with fact that it's wack and he has realized that.
DeleteDie Hard is a cool joint but I was never too crazy about it either like some other people who dig it a lot. I like the beat, Dre's verses aren't bad, but the Em hook really kills the buzz of it for me. He really should lay off the hooks which I gathered was a big thing he played with on Recovery. With that said, I don't expect it at all to make Detox because 1) It's an old song, 2) Just seemed like a leftover track that was only good to use as a promo for the fight), and 3) I'm pretty sure nothing we've heard so far is in this latest or expected final cut of Detox.
ReplyDeleteA full CDQ version to put out would be a good move, but the fact they never actually did that gives me reason to believe it was never meant to be anything but a promo track used to pull in people to watch the fight than for actual Detox fans looking for a snippet. Just think about it: people who probably care about listening to a new Dr. Dre and Eminem joint would also tune into a big boxing fight and keep watching which would boost its ratings.
