Dr. Dre previewed a song in the studio via a video clip shot by Lemar Guillary, a professional trombonist.
Guillary lensed the video before laying down the horns on the track. In the clip, the West Coast veteran presents the cut, which features plucked strings and a heavy bass.
The video and studio session is dated back to early 2010.
the blog that vid was on had comments from feb 2010, that leaked song aint recent but sounded pretty tight
ReplyDeleteThis song is detox!!! Why couldnt this be the first single
ReplyDeleteYeah, this is old
ReplyDeleteI like the vocals by kobe or sly but the beat is a little too similar with still d.r.e
Best "new" Dr.dre track i've heard for a long time, to see the video :

cant see it, has been removed by the user =(
ReplyDeleteYou can YouTube "dre encore studios" and it'll pop up.
ReplyDeleteThis song does sounds old, I don't think it was anything new.
U guys must not be dre fans if u dont think this track is banging, this is the hardest shit i heard from all the leaks, this song couldve been a single if nate was on the hook and dre added some keys on it, that shit would be classic, dre is back
ReplyDeletelink upted so video now works again
ReplyDeletethis dre studio vid keeps gettin removed from youtube, i have updated it for the 5th time.
That sounds really good to my ears. On the other hand I dont think dre is happy with this clip being on youtube.
ReplyDeleteThis is ACTUALLY a craaaazy song. Really.
ReplyDeleteExactly how i imagine detox !
With a kendrick lamar's verse, it must be a classic. #detox
i think its super funny how dre asks him if he brought his sax and the dudes like " nah i got a trombone and trumpet." dre probably scrapped the song right then and killed the dude lol
ReplyDeleteI can feel this beat when Dre gets down to mixing it and throwing in some new arrangements for other instruments and keyboards but it isn't Still D.R.E. hard. I heard more interesting shit in the new Doggisode episode because it sounded more evolved and next-level.
ReplyDeleteno disrespect but potential tracks shouldn't be compared to still dre.
ReplyDelete'Still dre' is a classic but not everything revolves around it. Remember the whole of chronic 2001 was superb, meaning other tracks too.
I think the first single from Detox will be compared with Still Dre no matter what. After 10 years everybody expects the new to beat the old shit, which in this case is impossible.
ReplyDeleteStill Dre is untouchable but i hope the Detox singles can come near it at least in quality.
I can compare it because Snoop said out loud they need to make something just like it to carry Detox. Still D.R.E. isn't a very complex beat either, less is more, but it works perfectly in evoking the WC gangsta rap sound and representing the entire 2001 album. Plus regardless of what you want to believe, the first official Detox single will inevitably be compared to it. That song was Dre's comeback single and whatever comes from Detox first will be the same thing. Comparisons are just natural.
ReplyDeleteObviously the joint in the video is unfinished and yet to be fully mixed and touched up, but for all the excitement tumbling about in the comments for it I was just saying I don't feel it off the bat being above the bar of Still D.R.E. which we kind of know is exactly what they want to do.
Sounds like this should have dropped 10 years ago. It was a cool sound in the early 00's but c'mon Dre, come sum crazy sick new sound please. I always thought your were the dopest producer cuz you always came with the sick new sounds, so I expect you to come with a sick new sound for Detox too.
ReplyDeleteDrefan since 91
